what is codene?

Can anyone tell me what codene (spelling??) is?

I had dental work done yesterday and can barely open my  mouth today. I just called my dentist.  He said he was calling me codene in...then he asked if i ever took it. I said no...the only pain killers I have ever taken for dental work was vicodin and percocet.  He then said oh ok...consider it called in.

Assuming he calls me in codene...what is it???? Is it a pill? I thought it was cough syrup? I am confused.

I'm an addict pillhead, as you know and I'm not in the least offended. Who better yo ask than an addict, recovering or not. Codeine is mild totally different than hydrocodone. Two totally different drugs. Tylenol #3 has 30mg of codeine and hydrocodone goes up to 10mg. I think some people in this forum needs to quit being so sensitive. If your offended with someone's honesty then quit reading their post.

I am totally confused!!!! I thought that this was posted on the Pain Management Forum. Mollyrae you will have to explain this better to the dummy, me. I thought if it was copied it showed as a copy.

And Lovemypillowhead if you have questions about pain medications or you still have a questions about codeine please let us know if the Pain Management Forum and someone will be happy to respond.

Tooth pain can be horrible. I am sorry you are experiencing it. You are correct, codeine is not a very strong or effective pain med. Good luck to you.

I want to apologize to the pain forum for the Substance Abuse forum spilling over from the original poster. I think the poster copied the entire post.

To Lovemypillhead:

Please be consious of what your copying in the future. You only need to copy your original question. Thank you,
Mollyrae

I'm really confused about your last post Avis - just for the record, I'm not starting drama - I just need to ask this question: If people on the forum are having a hard time reading posts about pain meds then... #1. Why don't they stop reading posts about people taking pain meds? #2. Why are they on an addiction forum where 99% of people are here to get clean off of pain pills?? Alot of posters here have been clean for awhile, but ALOT of posts are from people starting a detox, going thru a detox, or starting/doing a taper.... If any posts concerning someone (still) taking pain meds are going to be redirected to another forum - then what's the point of the Substance Abuse forum even existing?? And quite honestly - if reading a post like this particular one here causes someone to relapse or think about relapsing... then that person/people are obviously not very strong in their recovery. I'm not saying that to be mean or hurtful - it's true.
