Extremely out of breath playing soccer

My son, age 10, gets extremely out of breathe playing soccer. He has to stop, put his hands on his knees to get his breathe. He also feels like his heart is going to jump out of his chest. He has not played sports in over a year, so I am not sure to be worried about his heart or if he just needs to build up his stamina.

He is a healthy child (4 ft 11in and weighs about 72 lbs). He is a healthy eater. Does not eat junk food or enriched/processed foods.

I am concerned mostly due to the fact that I (his mother) have supraventricular tachycardia (fast heart rate).

He has not played sports in over a year, so I am not sure to be worried about his heart or if he just needs to build up his stamina.

I hear about kids dying from unknown heart conditions after playing sports. Am I overreacting or do I need to take him for a physical?

I dont think any concern about health is over reacting and yes I would get him checked out, just for peace of mind, maybe he should start with slower physical exercises, as he has not been playing for a over a year ..Good luck
