Bloody mucus stool

My son is 1 yr + 8 months, weighing 11kg and 26 inches(650mm) tall. Stooling with mucus but recently with stain of blood. Ive used flagyl (antibiotics) but did not stop. I Have been to the hospital, Doctor gave some drugs (I assume antibiotics is included)and this is the 5th day out of 7 days of using the drug but to no avail. Pls help.

Thanks so much for your answers/assistance, you ar doing a great job. The stooling has normalised now even without taking him to the Doctors again. However, im still monitoring him in case it relapses.

Inflammatory bowel disease is one possible cause of both blood and mucous in the stool. Diverticulosis can also be a possibility. Having blood in the stool is not normal, and he needs to be looked at again by another doctor for treatment. good luck.
