History:
He woke up Thurs at 1 am throwing up and had a slight fever of 100.5
Gave Tylenol and vomited it up. Waited a while and gave more tylenol. Finally fell asleep at 3am till 8.
During the day was in a great playful mood. Ate a small breakfast. Solids foods were ok. Liquids he would vomit up. After vomiting he would resume playing as if nothing happened. No fever and no diarrhea. had a larger than usual bowl movement in the middle of the day.
Ate an OK lunch but again fluids he could not keep down. He did not have a wet diaper for over 12 hours and was taken to the ER. Noticed a rash on his thighs. At the ER waiting room was given fluids orally and vomited it up. one admitted, Gave IV fluids and finally peed after 3 hours more had a low grade fever of 100.2. Docs said there is no issue...Diagnosis was GI virus.
Came home and he slept very well until 8am. Ate an ok breakfast minimal lunch but after lunch was given more fluids and finally vomited. He was peeing during the day today. gave some more small amounts of fluids but still vomited again. No sign of fever and no diarrhea. Playful and happy but still vomiting...and is sound asleep now.
I can tell he is hungry but he is gagging anytime we give fluids or solids....we are frustrated and not sure what to do. We just find it strange that he basically has no other symptom and are concerned about his minimal food and liquids. We also find it strange that there is basically no other symptom but vomiting. The fever has not returned and no diarrhea...
Perhaps if it is continueing you should take him back to the Doctor , he was dehydrated and thats why he still needs fluids, so keep giving him frequent amounts of water, maybe something like pedia lite . if hes still vomitting take him back.
