baby with reflux

Hi, my son is 1 month 1/2 old and suffers from reflux. His pediatrician put him on zantac about 2 weeks ago and now again 2 days ago. I'm not seeing much improvements since he is still spitting up and sometimes it just goes back down. I also feel that he has had colic, since he cries out of no where with such a great force. I was mostly breastfeeding and he was drinking formula (similac advance) as well but maybe just about 2 oz. every other feeding. So then I had to take antibiotics for a bladder infection 2 times, (which it still won't go away and might need further treatment) but was told that it was safe to still breastfeed while taking my medication  But once I took them while breastfeeding my son got a rash on his face and than that's when all the spitting up started to happen and got worse to where he was throwing up the formula and my milk. I was told to switch him to similac alimentum (which has worked better than the advance) & to take the dairy off my diet but either way doing that he was still spitting up & throwing up a little. So his pediatrician told me to stop breastfeeding him for now and see how he goes about the formula and taking zantac. & as of today he has been spitting up frequently but not throwing up the formula. I thought maybe it was because he was being overfed but I'm not sure anymore since he is still hungry even if he pits up. I was also told that he might have protein sensitivity and might be allergic to milk, so I'm confused now and I do not feel comfortable with Zantac. Please let me know what you think about my sons' situation as I am a little worried and scared that he might have to get some type of diagnostic evaluations and treatments. He is too little for all of that. I also wanted to know has anyone ever heard or tried Colic Calm?

Thank you.

It sounds as if the anti biotics you were taking when breast feeding your son did have an effect on him hence the rash and possible allergy. If you want to go the non drug way with reflux here is a link may help you   http://www.infantrefluxdisease.com/help_infant_reflux.php  and there is much about reflux online  which seems to be more prevalent nowadys ..I agree with you about zantac ..I think he will grow out of this phase and really its a matter of time and making him comfortable , possibly once he starts sold food at around 6 months there will be a marked difference , I dont think babies should be put onto solid food/cereal too early but sometimes it is advised at 4 months ...
