22. Pcos. Depressed.

I was recently diagnosed with pcos . I'm 22 about 5'9 and 248lbs. The. Doctor told me the weight loss would greatly help. I get depressed with the thought if not being able to conceive one day. I'm in metformin and have had regular periods for the past few months. I started walking in the morning and my bp has been good (yay). Also I take folic acid and iron supplements ) I'm anemic too ). Does anyone else have pcos at a young age? How do you manage it?? Was it difficult to conceive?? Lastly, is this sketching I should share with my partner?

Thank you everyone for your support. ☺️
I'm on a journey to loose some weight. The metaformin is really helping and I have been having regular periods. I've tried to explain pcos to my bf but he doesn't get it... He just thinks it means I have irregular periods. It's kind of hard to talk to him About anything medical

Hello,

I am 27 [will be 28 next month] and I was dx’ with PCOS around 5, maybe 6 years ago. When I first met my boyfriend, my now fiancé all we wanted to do was have a baby. Before we could  even try, my problems started with irregular bleeding and pain. It took a few months to find the right doctor to tell me I had PCOS. He placed me on some meds to help my bleeding to stop, after that I was placed on birth control and Metformin. Metformin is great for us who have PCOS, because it can help with weight loss. After I told my boyfriend everything I was going through, he just wanted to be there even more for me. I thought maybe he would not want to stay, since having a family was so important to him [and to myself], but he told me so what if we have to wait 10 years before we have kids…it will be fun trying lol. My point is, I think you should tell your boyfriend, just so he knows what you’re going through. It may even help cope with you being depressed because at least you have another person that knows what you’re dealing with. And remember, you’re not alone. PCOS is the #1 cause of infertility of women. Feel free to stay around in the community and ask questions or post your thoughts.

Take care.

I was diagnosed with pcos last july after starting round 2 of clomid due to not being able to get pregnant on our own.. not ovulating and irregular periods sent me to get help. I told my husband the moment I found out I was diagnosed with pcos and luckily with round 2 of clomid I am now 34 weeks 6 days pregnant with a little girl.. good luck sweetie..

And if they ever put u on clomid, sex will have to be on certain days, so telling your boyfriend is a good idea

You should tell your boyfriend,  he can be your support system.  Getting pregnant is not impossible,  just harder.  For us we have to pay attention to every change in our body

I no exactly how you feel ... I also don't no who to turn to or tell... I'm sure they has to be something the doctors can do but for me it's finding one that actually will listen .... I hope in the near future you will have a baby all the best

Also I feel conflicted because I don't know if this is something I should tell my boyfriend or not. To be honest, I feel like not being in any relationship, not thinking about children, and to focus in other aspects of my life. I feel indifferent, alone and isolated.

Hello everyone
Thanks so much for the responses . Like I said I am on metformin - I take twice a day and have since had regular periods. I don't know if I can conceive -- I have exactly tried to .. (Lol) but I worry about it in the future. Right now my struggle is with weight. I haven't gained anymore weight since on metformin but I haven't lost any either (

The doctor should start you on metformin immediately.  It do help with regulating your cycle. I was also depressed a lot, at 29 with no kids I feel like a grand ma. All my siblings at this age already had 2 children. But I became pregnant last month after taking metformin for a little over 4 months,  if the metformin alone don't work, they can put you on clomid.

Hi, I'm 29 and was diagnosed at 17. I was beginning to think I would never get pregnant but last month without even trying I became pregnant,  sadly though I miscarried, but there is hope I take a herbal supplement with all the b vitamins and folic acid and 1500 mg of metformin. My next period I plan to take clomid in hopes that it works...Good luck!!
