Epidural vs Natural.

I'd like to hear from experienced mumma's about their personal experience using epidural through labour or mother's who've gone natural? I am 16, I have a great birth giving shape and have a high pain tolerance, but would honestly like an epidural. I've had a spinal needle before (acupuncture) which I could stand although was looped up on I have no idea what.. but everyone keeps mentioning it'll ruin my back blah blah, it was a possiblilty with my acupuncture and its never caused me an issue? Don't know whether I should as opinions are scaring me towards natural.

I had a natural birth not by choice. I got the epidural but it did not work at all. Birth HURT! But I also had a 10lb 7oz baby with the exception of an episiotomy. Its probably the worst pain EVER! I thought I was going to die. But also since I had a big baby my uterus hemorrhaged and they almost had to take it out :/ not trying to scare you. But it could possibly be easier if you don't have a large baby

I just delivered today. I wimped out after 4 contractions after they broke my water. I'll tell you, the epidural was the best part. I had less than an hour of pushing before my 8 lb 12 oz baby boy popped out of me. I got an episiotomy towards the back and still tore in the front. :/ I don't know about how it'll affect me after, but I'll say that I do not see how women give birth without the epidural.

Epidural does kind of stuff up your back at the insicion site. The needle enters your spine and it is thicker than acupuncture needle.  I had 2 natural labours but after my first I tore really bad and had to get the epi to stitch me up.
Epidural stops you moving. Your legs blow up real big. You can not go to toilet need a catheder. Also can slow down labour as you are immobile. When it comes to pushing you can not feel the contractions that help you push your baby.
NATURAL. It hurts.... alot. But recovery is realllly good.

dont let them cut you without your permission. Dont let them give you picotin without doing your research. As your 16 they will try controling your labour alot ... even adult women get told what to do in labour.
do what you want if you want the epi fight for it.
if you dont want intervention. Fight for it.

With my 1st I labored till I was 6 cm it felt like period cramps when I did fill them but the dr put something in my iv to help me fall asleep bc I was to excited 2 meet my lil one n coulsnt fall asleep an what ever it was it stopped my contracions and I had to have a c section.. it was a few days b4 thanksgiving and he was trying to rush to go on vacation the next day so he knew what he was doing... but this time my dr said that he would let me try and have this baby natural and I'm going to try again with no epidural I have a very high pain tolerance as well...

Saturday I had an all natural birth. It was the most amazing experience of my life. With my first it wasn't natural and I hated not knowing what was going on with my body. This time I went in with the best support system. Contractions were a breeze until the last 30 minutes when my son started coming through the birth canal. It was hell but omg it was the most amazing experience and if I could go back I'd do it the same all over again. I was up and feeling great that night. It was amazing for me but its obviously not so great for others.

I had a emergency c section with my first and I HATED not being able to move my legs omg such a scary feelong to me but idk if I would try natural !! Lol your best bet is to go in open minded, if you think you can handle it, go for it!! And if it hurts to much you can always get the epidural !!! Goodluck!!

I went 9 hours without an epi and was the worst pain of my life!  Cried the whole time and it was just so exhausting. Was still a 4 1/2 cm. Got the epidural and in 30 mins I went from that to a 9. It was awesome! I very much enjoyed it after that! Every labor is hard but you are a very strong woman if you do all natural!

I had the chance to experience both ways and with the epidural you get to have a calm and nice experience. I was 13 hrs in labor and it was stress free o the other hand my Natural birth lasted 5 hrs but was so horrible for me. The pain was unbearable.

Epidural can have benefits if you labor for a long time with no progression. It can help you. For me my labor was only 6 hours the contractions were super manageable and I progressed super fast I went in at a 5 and 2 hours later exactly I had my son. If you'd like to go naturally then go in ready for natural. I told the doctors to not even mention drugs to me because I know they're there and if I need them I'll let them know. I think you should try natural then if you can't take it anymore then there is no shame in caving in. I was lucky my labor wasn't bad at all. Even the nurses said it was the best labor they've seen in awhile especially all natural but that isn't always the case.
