I'm a teacher & have seen and heard of some hum-dingers! Shithead (pronounced shih-theed), Le-a (pronounced Le-dash-uh), Abcde (pronounced AB-Sid-dee), twins named Lemonjello (lim-on-juh-low) and Orangejello (Or-ahn-juh-low), and Female (pronounced fih-mal-lee) are some of the ones that make me shake my head! Those are cases where I wish a nurse or someone could have stepped in to help the poor children!

I'm all for unique hippie names like Sunshine, Dream, Stardust, Moon beam, etc. But you better be ready as a parent to really instill some confidence and thick skin in your child cause kids are straight up MEAN. We can justify unique/weird names, and as parents we can say "well they can change it", but kids don't try to understand. They'll pick on you for being fat! They'll pick on you for being adopted! They'll pick on you for having lice first! Hell, they'll pick on you for eating the same lunch twice. That's the part that concerns me. Kids can be so mean to one another. You might have raised your baby right, but that kid that might tease your kid to the point where they kill themselves much bit have had that kind of parenting. And that's the part that scares me the most :(

I'm naming my son King Marlon a lot of people don't approve says it sounds more like a title than a name, but he is my son and that's the name I choose, if when he is grown and absolutely hate it, he is free to change  it to whatever he likes

Before we continue what are we calling weird. Most of the names mentioned are very normal maybe not real common names but definitely normal. Which names are the ones that are being called weird?

I have a Taylor, Keagan, Ashtyn, Brady, and soon to be Whitlee. I agree with some of the other moms. When we were young there were a ton of Johns, Jasons, Stephanies, Jennifers, etc. Every generation seems to have a popular pattern of names. With time comes change. I'm sure the older generation before us wasn't too fond of some of the name choices. Poking at the new name trend is just as bad as hearing an elderly person say "back in my day........ this music is garbage.......... we didn't have snow days!"  blah blah blah lol.

@bonnieella20 I think that the fact that you consider different names to be weird Is what many of us women are finding offensive. You may not even realize but you are passing negative judgment on another woman's choice for her own children. It makes you seem narrowminded. Though you may not mean any offense, your post is calling out mothers that think differently than you. You find common to be good and those women that find uniqueness to be good will speak out.
