Does anyone know about this? Could I Be Pregnant?

Hi. I'm 19 and I'll be 20 soon. I was recently put on birth control pills. I am almost at the end of my second month. Last month, my period came right on time and I had none of the normal aches and pains that I had had before being put on birth control.  My periods are very regular (28 days) and I normally only bleed for 2 or 3 days. In the beginning of this month, I was sick with bronchitis. My doctor put me on Amoxicillin and did not tell me that it would interfere with my birth control pills. Later, just around the time of ovulation, I had sex with my boyfriend and he did used a condom like always (i had just finished my amoxicillin the day before this). I missed my birth control pill this day but took it early the next morning.  About three days after that, I started bleeding very lightly; it was very light pink and it only came when I wiped and my period was not due for another 2 weeks. The next morning I went to the doctor because of a sharp burning pain in my abdomen which I thought was appedicitis. My doctor had me take a pregnancy test even though he said it was unlikely it would be able to tell so early. It came back negative and after doing many more tests decided it was a pocket of gas or that I was pregnant and was unsure why I was having so much pain. Since that (for over a week) I have had a dark brown discharge (note my period is not due until March 3rd). I have been sleeping for 12 hours every night recently, which is very unusual. I have stomach cramps and I feel nauseas alot. I haven't been eating very much at all. Most foods dont seem appetizing anymore. And I seem to always be exhausted. And I just feel pregnant...I dont know how to explain that....and it might just be that I'm worrying. Does anyone know if it is probable that I am pregnant?

(hopefully that all makes sense....please ask if it doesnt)

yea! we're in similar situations. I seem to have many symptoms, but I know that they can also be because of other things. I'm just nervous that I won't get my period in two days and then I will be stressed. And I don't want to worry if the brown spotting for over a week was my period and it just came really early. And the waiting...I'm really just not patient at all!  It's terrible.

I am having a very similar situation....the post I wrote is here.... http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/452092 read it! ....I am confused about birth control...and pregnancy symptoms...and very light brown spotting I had after my period was supposed to come..and it only lasted 2 days. I took a test already and it was negative, but I could have just taken it too early, because I have had many many symptoms...including throwing up in the mornings! I just have to wait or go see a doctor. I hate waiting to find out, too!

I'm sorry. I guess I should just wait for two days. But I'm very impatient and worried. And if it doesnt come on the 3rd then I'm gonna be very worried...and I don't want to do that if i just had my period very early. I dunno??? I just confused.

Thanks! I guess I'm just confused about the spotting and brown discharge for like over a week. It's still going on and my period is due in two days. Is this this my period? I don't want to be worried if my period doesnt come on the 3rd when it has already happened. Does that make sense?

Also, my mom had my sister while on birth control and using a condom! Just makes me think.

I'm sure you must be very stressed considering you were taking preventitive measures against getting pregnant, so just try to be patient until it's time to take another test and i'll cross my finger for you that the antibiotics have just messed your cycle up (presuming you don't actaully want to be pregnant) and if you are pregnant i wish you all the best

Anitbiotics can severely mess up a cycle.  I took antibiotics for a UTI on 2 separate times and missed a period each month I took them.  Ended up getting pregnant which ended in a m/c.  I know when you miss a pill, that messes with your cycle.  Just one day can throw it off.  And that with the antibiotic could be causing your spotting, etc.  Did your doctor do a urine or blood pregnancy test?  If it was a blood...then chances are the "-" is accurate.  If it was a urine, you could be too early.  These are just suggestions.  The only other thing to do is to wait until your period is to arrive and if it doesn't take a HPT and see what it says.  Stressing about it and worrying (which I know is human nature) isn't helping the situation either.  That causes your cycle to be off too.  Good luck to you!

my mother got pregnant with me useing birth control and condoms so it is possible your pregnant...probable? since it is a rare occurrance your most likely not pregnant birth control pills can do alot to a womans body i.e. spotting and irregular periods, nausea, breast tenderness, weight loss bloating....fatigue on the other hand is not usually a side effect and if you forgot the pill then took it the next day you may be pregnant...heres a link so you get a better understanding of how birth control works
