My dr says if u have stitches 6 weeks if not when the bleading has been stopped for a week you should be compleatly healed and ready to go ( for vaginal births only ) i had sex 1 week 5 days later with my first just took it really slow.

Yea I delivered my son vaginally and waited 5wks and 6days. My daughter was born 3wks ago tomorrow via c section and I haven't gave in yet but that's mainly cause I'm still bleeding a little.

6-8 weeks is if you had stitches or are still very tender or sore. I have never had stitches and I was totally fine to have sex 2 weeks after and I only waited that long because I was so sleepy. :) my doctor cleared me before I did anything just to be safe.

Since I had a c section and not a vaginal birth I gave in around 5 weeks. It definitely hurt at first.

If you don't wait the six weeks you run a high risk of injury, infection or getting pregnant.
