The twin gene is not supposed to be heriditary in men only in women, So unless you have twins on your side I wouldn't worry about it.
I don't know if they are, not really worried just curiosity.
Im 17 and this is my first pregnancy. The whole pregnancy and giving birth thing both amazes and scares me haha
An ultrasound would see twins. Perhaps the "hiding" stories are left over from the days when the only way the doctor would be able to tell what was there was a tape measure and feeling with the hands.
Also, as Lala says, genetically speaking, a male being a twin does not matter at all in terms of his kids. The tendency for twins (and fraternals only) is inherited from a mother who pops out more than one egg in a given cycle.
Twins sure do hide. My husband hid behind his brother for 5 months. And they had the same heart rate.
It often skips generations as well. My husband is a twin as well. No twins here. But you never know. Some twins are just two sperm and a split egg in the same sac and that really can happen to anyone. But the twins that run in families are usually maternal and skip generations. good luck
Twins that run in families only occurs on the mothers side- causing you to hyperovulate. Meaning two eggs were fertilized. The other way twin can occur is if one sperm meets one egg and the egg splits into two developing identical twins. We are unsure as to why this happens and is mostly thought of as a fluke.
I started off carrying twins (unfortunately lost one at 7 weeks) but we have no twins in my family at all neither doea my boyfriend so you don't need twins to run in the family, but they do normally find it on the scans everything is pretty technical so it shouldn't be missed if you were carrying twins :)
Twins ran on both sides of our families and were due and Im not having twins.
