Best time to take a test

I am supposed to start my period n a day and I normally have signs that I'm going to start but don't have any. Me and my boyfriend had sex all weekend and all weekend before that and I'm starting to wonder if I am pregnant. But when would be the best time to take the test.

I got a positive 4 days before my missed period with a first response early response test, if you use the early response, you can take one right now, if you want to be 100% sure there's no fault at all, wait til the day your period is due.

I took one 2 days ago in the middle of the day and it came back negative. So I should wait till I'm 3 days late? Its killing me to wait this long.
