Think of the pros think that breastmilk is the best you can give your little one also a nipple shield is a plastic that looks like a nipple so your baby can latch better if you have inverted nipples or your nipples are not formed all the way
I used my nipple guard to ease the pain in the begenning because it does hurt ao you dont have to have inverted nipples ti use one , and i would say go to babies r us or target and get the organic nipple cream to help with the crakung and soreness because it organic and all natural stuff that is better for the baby so he or she wont have to put her/his little mouth on all those chemicals and so you dont have to consistently worry about haveing to wipe it off because its safe for baby to just latch rite on
Don't use a nipplr shield. Yes it will help with the pain but it will take longer for your baby to get a good latch, and they will be used to the feeling of plastic instead of skin and may reject the real nipple once you take it off. Secondly, after every time you breastfeed, express a bit more milk and rub it onto your nipples and areolas and let it air dry. It will help with the pain in the beginning and will heal you faster. Make sure you watch some YouTube videos of other moms breastfeeding and latching their babies on. The more you know, the better you will feel. Find out where your local branch of LA Leche League is and go to a few sessions before you have your baby so you can watch other moms breastfeeding. You can get good advice from them too. Look up and see if there are any drop in clinics where a lactation consultant will be there, just in case you're having trouble. The key to having good milk supply is to feed baby on demand. Whenever they're hungry feed them. If they don't wake up at the 3 hour mark in the first few weeks, wake them and feed them. You will experience swollen and sore breasts once your milk comes in. Take ibuprofin and Tylenol for the pain and swelling. The first two weeks are the hardest. I got through it and breastfed for a year. It's an amazing experience. Don't give up! Make sure your partner will support and encourage you also. It makes a HUGE difference. Good luck mama!
Thank u ladies and good idea on the organic cream. Didnt even think about that (:
Omg i tried with my other two it just didnt work but im excited and very willing to try everything i have to do to have my little love latch (: so im ready just needed advise and i will take it all and put it to good use!!!
Pure lanolin is all natural and won't harm baby. It's the best one out there. But I found the air drying milk trick to work even better. Lanolin did nothing for me. my daughter had a perfect latch but vaccuum suction so my nipplesblistered, popped and scabbed over. I got a plugged nipple too. But within hours of trying the expression and letting the milk air dry I wasn't in so much pain any more. 3 days of doing that and I was pain free! I plan to do it from day one with baby #2.
Yea I breastfeed with my first for six months and when I was in the hospital she wouldn't latch so the nurse gave me a nipple shield to use and it worked she latched on but only thing is after that she wouldent breast feed without the nipple shield and it sucked because their ten bucks a piece and having to find a lost one when baby is crying in the middle if the night it running to the store to buy one really ***** so this time I am going to try a lot longer to get a natural latch but if all else fails it does help
Thank u ladies (: i really appriciate the advise !!
