Contractions or not?

I'm only 16 weeks so I'm a little concerned.. I think I may be having contractions but I'm not sure. It's been 3 years but I thought I'd remember the feeling. Anyways I feel my lower abdomen tightening and it hurts but it only last about 15-20 seconds and its about every 10-12 minutes.. Is it a contraction or just maybe my uterus stretching and growing?

Good Luck... sorry i saw your post quite late.. you were indeed having contractions because more than 4/5 braxton hicks an hour is usually a sign something is not right... i started getting them at 16 wks.. never got more than 2-3 in 2 hours if i dont drink enough water or if i am holding my urine or you know very bloated... they do hurt sometime especially as i said if you are holding pee or have wind or gas... its good you called your doctor and i hoping they are able to stop them..
Round ligament pain is not usually diagnosed by some doctors.. on the other hand doctors in uk always call them stretching pain however if its severe they like to look into it as it could be something serious...

Best of luck... and keep us posted...

Everyone can have their own opinion of whether round ligament pain is real or not. I prefer to agree with my doctor.. And when it boils down to it, it's not what I'm experiencing but I APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU WHO GAVE YOUE OPINION AND I RESPECT THEM ALL.

Jeez some people are such ***** on here, im so tired of hearing people tell girls that things are fake or made up. I wont just "let it go" if someone is being misinformed I think she desurves to know what her pains cold be and by telling her there is no such thing is rediculous.

I just got off the phone with my doctor and asked him the possibilities and he said he NEVER diagnosis a woman with round ligament pain because its so vague and usually an inaccurate diagnosis because the pain is always something other than the round ligament that supports your uterus... I am indeed having contractions and am headed to L&D now. Please pray for my son. It's way too early for him to come!
