First of all it's called an epidural...
And second of all women have been handling the pain of childbirth since the beginning of humanity. I had a natural birth and it was the most incredible and empowering experience of my entire life. Having a birth plan that is clear to your healthcare provider is essential. Having your birth coach/partner/in-room family fully supporting your choice is essential. Believing in yourself and knowing for a fact that you can do it and not having a doubt in the world that you're not interested in medication can make an enormous difference in your ability to succeed. You've got to be stubborn and single-minded but you can absolutely do it. I've never felt so strong in my life. There's absolutely nothing like it.

I'm not saying you can't do it but it is a lot of pain. I Wouldn't recommend it to nobody!
