Does Clomid Really Work?

My doctor put me on 50 mg of clomid for days 5-9 because I am not ovulating. I am supposed to take this for 6 months and if nothing happens we have to try something else for ttc. I am very nervous and scared. I am on my second cycle of this medication. Just curious if this actually works or not? My husband and I have been ttc for a little over a year now and I am hoping this works but I just don’t want to get my hopes up :(

Hello everyone, I am new to this whole thing. It has been more than supporting and helpful. I thank you all so much for your inspiring stories, they mean a lot. My husband and I have been trying for about 13 months now. Anyway my Dr. has me on 50 mg of clomid cd5-cd9. When you take the OPK's how do you know when to BD? If anyone has advice or any input please help..I am confused.

N yes if u wud get ur internal ultrasounds done on the day 13 and day 14 of ur menstrual cycle it wud tell u the exact details of ur follicle measurements.

WHAT I DID N CONCIEVED WAS:
Took prolifen for 5 days twice a day starting from the 2nd day of my periods. Then on the day 13 of my menstrual cycle got my internal ultrasound done to c the follicle. Follicle was 17.5 mm with really gud blood flow so the doctor decided to give me a 5000 units of hcg injection to make sure that my follicle ruptures to result in a timely ovulation. N yes i did concieve.

Hi, am new here... i took Prolifen very similar to clomid and i concieved in the same cycle and got pregnant with twinz. Unfortunately had a missed abortionn. REALLY WORRIDDD 2. So YES it wud definately work.

I actually got preggo after I STOPPED taking clomid - but I do think it helped to regulate me (which birth control did not do for me). Good luck hun! Stay positive!

I took 100mg from day 2-9 with a shot of ovidrel and got pregnant 3 times.  Good Luck!!

I used Clomid 50mg last cycle and pre seed and not BFP I didnt O until 21cd so its different for everyone I guess. I have started my 2nd round yesterday and I started my husband on a herbs for Sperm improvement so my husband tells me that this is something at will happen when God wants not went I want and I know that but I just want this so bad like the rest of you. Same as Lil_lady used 50mg clomid, ovulation predictor kit the pee sticks and pre seed lube. I'm now 22 weeks pregnant. It took ovadriel injections for me as well to make me ovulate (clomid matures the eggs and then they may release on their own but clomid doesn't truly make you ovulate it just makes your eggs mature which makes it more likely your body will release eggs on their own).

I also got pregnant from using 50mg Clomid, it worked on the second cycle for us. Believe them when they say the chances of multiples increase because it can release more than one egg in one month. We are having twin girls! No prior history of twins in either sides of our families. My recommended buying OPK and to BD when we got our positive ovulation. We were also using Pre-seed which is a sperm friendly lubricant to help with the dryness that Clomid created. It worked for us! Good luck and sending lots of baby dust your way.

I used it. 50mg on cd 5-9. I got pregnant my first cycle. I probably wouldn't have if I hadn't been charting my bbt. My GYN told me that I would ovulate no later than 10 days after the last pill...ha It took a few extra days. I would chart my bbt as well if I were you. Good luck!

I personally have not used it, but a friend of mine has used it and is now pregnant with her 2nd baby.
