I had it but i also had a block on it so i could get up and move. Other than that i used oils and massage as pain relief. But it was good to have it because my labor was 22 hours and half way through i requested a slow drip of pitocin to speed things up and all they had to do was clip it to the needle instead of inserting a new one.

I got it just to keep my fluid levels up. I was exhausted after 8 hours of full on active labour so they gave me that to keep my energy up.  I had a natural birth with no epidural. That's why I was exhausted. Haha.

It's not required unless your group b strep positive. I'm allowing them to put it in my arm but with a block for easy access if I need something but i'm not gonna be hooked to anything. I technically don't even have to allow them to put the block in but am just to be cautious if something were to happen. I don't need someone speed pricking my veins

When you go in to labor yet automatically hook you up to and iv usually in your hand of arm it's for bags of fluid and also for anything they have to give you during labor it doesn't hurt just stays in you during the labor process after labor the remove it so you don't have it your whole syauv
