Epidural..

I'm having my second child which is a boy in May on the 7th. I'm still hesitant about getting the epidural since my first girl was so small and unexpected I just didn't get it but this time I'm really getting that pregnancy weight. Help I am not a needle person expecially for my back and as huge as it is. They say they numb it but still not sure

I would recommend it unless you were trying for an all natural birth. With my first I wanted to try natural but the contractions were so intense that I couldn't relax enough to progress from a 7. So I asked for an epidural and oh my god I was in heaven! Finally felt like I could breath. The epidural wasn't too painful either.  It was uncomfortable especially for me since I seemed to have needed a special needle due to some ligaments in my back. But I kept telling the anesthesiologist that he was best friend! I'm definitely not waiting with this one. Believe me the contractions were much more painful than the epidural.

I'm due August 5th and I am trying to do the research on the same thing too! I know... It may be a little early. Anyway, there are stories on both sides of the "epidural issue". It really all comes down to what you want your birth experience to be like.
Ideally, I think I'd want to give birth without an epidural so I am more in control, but I know I'm going to need to be flexible since every birthing situation is different and things may not go exactly as planned (as nothing ever does)! I'll have my birth plan, but will completely trust my midwife to know what is best for baby and for me.
Hope you have a doctor/midwife you know and can trust to help you through it! Good luck! :)

Congrats!!! We have the same due date. The epidural isn't bad especially if you have a very good anesthesiologist. Reasearch which anesthesiologist the hospital has and read up on them. It will help alot.

I had my daughter may 8th of 2015 i had to get epidural and than an emergency c section.  The epidural did not hurt AT ALL like some people claim it does.  It helps ALOT but does not hurt . you do not see the needle at all and they wait for a contraction to stop and than give it to you.  Trust me go for it without it im pretty sure its painful.  That epidural really helps

I got it with 3 out of 4. My 4 th I went natural, he was the biggest, but I would never do it again. Natural was easier on me and baby, quicker recovery time, and I like being in control with the freedom to move around. I say it all depends on your pain threshold. If you can manage through the contractions it's not worth it, but if it's intolerable and you're wearing yourself out go for it
