First time pregancy

Hello, My name is Loa but on here I go by Raum. I am nineteen years old and having my first child with my fiancee. This is my first child all together and it is kind of scary and I am looking for advice and I have a few questions. I am 9 weeks pregnant and I just really need some help and support. My first question is am I supposed to have a bump yet or not? I really can not tell because i have been gaining weight for some reason but it doesnt look like a bump. I eat 3 meals a day and have a snack in the morning and evening. But thats really all. I exercise daily and I learned not to pick up heavy objects. My back has been hurting more than usual and I am wondering if that is part of the pregnancy. Also I feel like someone is chokeing me. Like I need to throw up but cant. Is that naseua? I am sorry for the stupid questions I should know but I dont so if someone could please help me that would be great. Also I have insomnia but last week I was sleeping just fine. Which is very unusual for me. But this week my sleep pattern was just wack. I could barely sleep at all and last night I got no sleep at all. I am so worried about everything can someone please help me and explain to me whats going on and what I should do? Also last question is vaginal discharge usual for someone who is only nine weeks pregnant? Thank you so much for you time and help.

Sincerely,

Loa

Hey i just read up on this post.  i see your having a hard time with all of this..I did too, so its normal.. a really good book to read is 'great expectations" u can find it at a barnes and noble.. I swear by it and its alot less cheesier then what to expect when ur expecting..  My fiancee laughs all the time cause he knows im addicted to this website.  And ive actually met a really great friend on here that I talk to  everyday all day on yahoo and facebook.. actually its the girl ur talking to "mom2ariana"  we have been talking since like the begining and were both almost done, this place is great for gettin to know about pregnancy and making friends that wont judge u, so dont let him laugh or make jokes about it.. my hubby understands now.  he cant say much cause he actually went to this party one night with his uncle and met all the guys from online that he plays his game with. lol.. So i throw that in his face when he laughs at me.. and i know how u feel about smoking.. i smoked heavily for 10 years before i got pregnant, hah yea i know im only 20 but i got into the bad stuff early. when i found out i finished my last 2 cigarettes.  Hubby still smokes and so does EVERYONE i know so its sooo hard... lol hang in there sweetie and im here if u need someone to talk to

thats what everyone keeps telling me lol but its so hard not to when you see all these problems and then make yourself believe you have them. My fiancee Jeff yelled at me hes like stop reading that site all your doing is freaking yourself out and stressing. I told him im not reading anymore im talking to people. He just growled and went to have a ciggerette. I was like you a**hole. I wish I had a ciggerette. Hes trying to quit until the baby is born but I know how hard it is for him since it was so hard with me.

i know i do too!! by the end you'll start driving yourself crazy lol so try to save some of the worry for later or you'll go nuts haha. but bring up your concerns w/ your ob and until then try not to let it get to you! its better for baby when your not stressed out.

oh yeah its okay did both too before i found out and actually after i found out it took me about a week to quit smoking! so don't worry they tell you not to worry about what you did before. so many women do things before they find out like drugs, smoking, drinking, birth control, etc..and their babies turn out fine. :) if you worry about that you'll worry yourself sick!! its just important that you stick to what you know now.

Lol yeah I notcied medhelp likes to bleep things out. I will definitly check out the website. I was worried at first about the baby because before I knew I was smoking heavily and then we took a test and the first came out negative so I was like alright im not pregnant I can smoke and drink. But then I started getting more symptoms so we got another test that came out positive so I held off on the smoking a drinking until I went to the doctor and when he comfirmed it I complently left smoking and alcohol behind no matter how hard it was. I asked him if there was any way to see if the baby was alright because I was drinking and smoking so heavily before I knew but he said no. I really hope the baby will be alright.

--No heavy lifting
--no changing the litter in kitty boxes
--no alcohol
--no smoking
--nothing for headaches except tylenol
--You can take Unisom (OTC med for sleep)
--Anything that you could think that could negatively affect the baby
** Try to eat as healthy as you can (plenty of fruits, veggies)

it totally depends on the type of person you are...for ME i'm a worrier by nature, so if you're anything like that you can expect to worry A LOT. there will just be little things that will scare you here and there. and i definitely recommend that book, i have it and i love it!! ive gone to it several times with questions.
as far as what you shouldn't be doing here's a list:
don't do anything that raises your body temperature above 101 degrees. that includes hot baths, hot tubs, the tanning bed, being out in the sun for too long, etc..
try to avoid bars and clubs and scenes where people will be smoking around you. you need to stay away from second hand smoke.
don't eat unpasteurized cheeses or juices (check the label), cold lunch meat (heat until steaming), any uncooked doughs or products with raw egg, high mercury fish, raw/undercooked meat (sushi, undercooked steak, etc...) and limit your intake on other fish, here is a great link for that:
http://www.*****************.org/pregnancyhealth/fishmercury.htm
don't use accutane face wash, its been known to cause birth defects
don't use tampons, don't douche
don't change litter boxes and wash your hands after handling cats and before eating if you live with any...they can carry toxoplasmosis (esp if they go outdoors and hunt mice) and this can be deadly for your baby
i think that about covers what i can think of right now...someone else might be able to think of some things i left out. :)

Thank you so much for the help.  I will definitly read that book. My mom read it when she had my brother. I have Seroquel for my insomnia but I worry that it might harm the baby and I cant get to a doctor just yet. My fiancee and I just moved to MA so I need to one get the money for a doctor and two find one lol. Ive been calling my old doctor in Ohio asking him questions but hes really no help sadly. My next question is, is there anything that I should really refrain from doing while being pregnant. Such as heavy lifting working out stuff like that.

There are so many thing that you are going to experience in the up coming months... It is really hard to predict. I am 15 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and this pregnancy is completely different than the ones I had with my boys. I understand the hormone fluctuations (crying to laughing, etc.) and you can assure your fiance that it is completely normal and hopefully it will die down in a few months (but it might not too) when your hormones adjust to being pregnant. As for the baby bump, nine weeks is early but you might look a little thicker due to bloating (which is also completely normal for this time). The choking sensations you are experiencing sounds like nausea (and maybe some heartburn) and that is normal with or without vomiting. I would recommend that you continue to exercise but maybe not as long or as vigorously as you were before you are pregnant. I also suffered from insomnia before pregnancy and now that I am pregnant it has kicked in hard. You can take Unisom but it gives me headaches in the morning which causes me to take extra strength tylenol most days. There are an absolute ton of changes that you are going to go through mentally and emotionally and physically through the next months (really until the baby is born) and it is hard to pinpoint these things without going through them just yet. I recommend the book "What To Expect When You Are Expecting" I have read it every single time I have been pregnant and I always read something new each time that I reread through it. It will give you a good idea of what is going to happen =)

i find the mood swings to be the worst. i wenr from laughing to crying in a matter of minutes which was really odd and scared the hell out of my fiancee. hes a lot older than me but this is his first child as well and boy he needs more help than me. so we both got on here looking for answers for a bunch of different things since he is so worried about the baby. is there anything i should know about what to expect for the next upcoming months?

hey hun im 19 as well and expecting a baby in may. the symptoms your having are normal, pregnancy, esp early pregnancy, throws your hormones all out of wack and your body takes awhile to adjust.

you won't be showing yet, you're probably just bloated. this is completely normal. dependin on your body type and what you were before you were pregnant you may not start to show for months. also vaginal discharge will be increased during pregnancy and that is normal too.
