Where do you apply for cash assistance
In Canada we pay into employee insurance (EI) and when you lose your job, go on mat leave, etc you fill in your forms and get a percentage of your regular earnings as if you were still getting paid. So some day when I go on mat leave I will get a year paid time off, I don't have to take it all but everyoneis entitled to that
Nichole75315, huh.. I'm gonna have to.Google that. It's not worth me going back to work full time because day care is so expensive.
The us has a program... Working to care for an infant. But you don't actually get money until baby is born I believe.

In the US we have something call Cash Assistance but you only get it in your ninth month of pregnancy or if you are high risk you get it in your seventh month of pregnancy
I heard of short term disability in the us for 12 weeks
I definitely wish we had this in the US
Thanks guys :) just rung them and it's looked over and should hear back in a week....I'm sure there should be something similar in the US, ask your doc :)
Wish we had that here in the US!,never heard of it
Is this only offered in the UK? That would be great if it was available in the us as well.
Maternity allowence is what you get in the UK as i dont think anywhere does it. Its money from 29 weeks from the goverment and you recieve it for a year or 9 months i cant remember. My midwifr will apply for it with me at 26 weeks then i will automatically get it at 29 weeks. But you only get it if you qualify
Sent mine on august 1st, rang up today to find out what the hell was going on to be told I'm not entitled to it as I left my job 3 weeks early. So I have to work for 3 weeks now to make up, whole process will take an extra 5 weeks from now, I would call them.
What's maternity allowance? I've never heard of this.
I just received my atm card yesterday! it took about 3 weeks and a half. You should be getting yours shortly!
