Milk storage/freezing

So one site suggested pumping out some of the foremilk and then feeding baby to help with green poop issues as well as block feeding. I tried the block feeding and Aubryana's going back and forth between yellow and green now. SO I want to pump a little and then feed her, but I'm not getting much when I pump, I just pumped ten minutes and stopped for a ten and then pumped again cause I wasn't getting much out and got a whole ounce and a half from the left side total. I want to freeze it. I already have a little bit frozen, can I add today's milk to it, or will it hurt it? I don't want to use a whole storage bottle for 1 1/2 oz every time I pump, that could get pretty expensive buying enough for a new one every time...I'm still not giving Aubryana a bottle yet, she sleeps good at night and DH is just now starting back with work, and going to be out another 30 days again soon for surgery. I'd just rather not try to introduce a bottle at all if I can help it, but not for a while still if I do, she just turned five weeks yesterday. So is it ok to add to the frozen milk I have, it's about 2 oz, and this 1 1/2 will added still won't fill the bottle I have and the others will hold up to 3, but if I can put milk from two pumping sessions in one bottle it'll fill the bottle instead of leaving it half empty.

I would continue the block feeding. I think it took a little over a week to go back to yellow completely with Kaelynn. She still has occasions of green poo.

Pumping will stimulate causing you to produce more prolonging the problem. If you don't have to pump then don't.

You can chill the milk first then add to frozen.

You can also take your bra off and when you leak on the other side is when you have a let down.

OK yes do NOT pump or it will only get worse, you must block feed for 4-5 days at the least to help fix it and some woman end up having to feed up to 12 hours on one side. You up your time in little bits after the 4-5 days if it is not working.

OK now with your let down you will see he suck fast at first then when you hear audible swolloing and her mouth is not sucking as fast but seems deeper is how I know to put it is when you have a let down. You shoud feel a tingle sensation is what I feel. Look up Jack Newman, he is a nursing dr and has video on it, it is the best video and informative web site besides LeLeache Leauge.

Hope this help!!!! Let me know

How do I know when I have a let-down? I've been exclusively breast feeding for five weeks now (minus ONE night the day before my milk came in) and I have NO clue still.

yes, but chill it first to prevent melting of the already frozen milk when you combine it.

Sounds like the block feeding may be helping, and I would keep trying it. I would try to avoid pumping if too much foremilk is the problem... it will likely only get worse. What you described (pump 10, off 10, pump10) is one way to "power pump" which is what we recommend to women who want to boost supply! You will just end up producing more foremilk. Your supply should actually level off soon if you continue block feeding. I recall asking the same questions a little over a year ago, and that's what the ladies told me... and they were right! Right now, between your hormones and the baby's needs constantly changing, your body is trying to find the right balance.

By the way, some women simply don't respond well to the pump. Sounds like you didn't have a let-down. But that extra stimulation will stimulate production. You can try a little manual expression, which would provide less stimulation.
