Natural birth.

Already mommies. So my mom had all natural births with my brothers and me. But my sister in law had an epidural. Everyone says since im so small 5'1 that I will need an epidural, whch I hope I dont need. I have scoliosis which already gives me back pain , I dont need more. Just ideas ladies. Advice I know everyone is different. Just wondering if any of you jave scoliosis and have given natural birth?

I had a natural birth, I don't have scoliosis but i did have a kidney operation 2 years ago. But when I was in labor, it was JUST the labor pains. If someone had punched me in the arm I wouldn't have cared. Haha. But yea see how you feel. I'm sooo glad I went natural. It was the most pain iv ever felt in my life, but worth it.

theres no need to ask for an epidural straight away, when you'll be in labour, then see if you want it or not.

i had to be induced, because my waters broke, and i had no natural contractions, and people say when induced the contractions are worse than natural ones, i was like you, i didn't want an epidural or a c-setion, wanted to see what it felt like, but once i  was induced, the contractions were horrible, i couldn't handle it, i asked for epidural... BUT it didn't work :( they adjusted it twice, made me a bit more dizzy (i was already dizzy from gas and air) but it didn't work at all

during pregnancy i always thought i wanted natural birth and incase it'll be too much pain i can always have an epidural, and after listening to women i knew who had it, saying it was great, you feel numb from the waist down, i was sooo dissapointed it didn't work

I haven't I'm a ftm but my mom says its better to go natrual deal with the pain because if you get an epidural it'll leave you with back pain I'm sure since you say it's already bad...my mom's 4"11 &&; has always been small don't think you'll need it but everyone is different. Good luck deciding :D

Just because you're small doesn't mean you'll need it any more than someone who is bigger. I'm 5'3" and delivered a nine pound baby naturally so it can be done :-) I don't have experience with scoliosis but I am a nurse - and though it's not my specialty I would assume that a spinal epidural would definitely not be something that's going to be a first choice for someone like yourself who already has spinal issues. Don't pay too much attention to people who tell you what kind of pain control you will need. Do lots of research for yourself and talk to your doctors about your concerns. Learn about relaxation and breathing techniques, non-pharmaceutical pain control methods, Hypnobabies, and anything else that sounds interesting to you that can help you have the birth you want. Mental preparedness is #1 in my book. If you walk in confident in your ability you're much more likely to avoid interventions than someone who walks in saying "I don't know if I can do it". Trust yourself. "My mama had all her babies naturally, she passed her good genes on to me, I can do it and I WILL do it!" Tell yourself that enough times and you'll believe it - it worked for me!!
