Need URGENT Advice for ovulation after miscarriage

hi everyone.  I was overjoyed to find out that i was pregnant two weeks ago.  But last week (thursday - 3rd july) i had a bit of spotting.  This went on to full red bleeding for friday and saturday and today (sunday) the bleeding has slown to almost nothing.  Also today we went for a full scan which found that there was nothing left inside the cervix.  Doctors have said that most likely i have had a miscarriage and that i've lost the baby through the heavy bleeding.  The doctors have said that I won't need a D&C though.

I would have been 6 weeks pg tomorrow (monday) and going through this first miscarriage loss has really put me down because i was looking forward to this baby but the mc was very early that i think this is the reason it has made it easy for me to keep looking forward and not to dwell on what was not meant to happen.  I have heard that after a miscarriage, a woman is more fertile and the chances of getting pregnant are higher.  Therefore i want to take my chances and have another go for my ovulation.

Now i want to know a few things regarding ovulation after miscarriage and would be very grateful if anyone can guide me.

First of all let me give you some info:- my last period was on may 26th and if i wasn't pregnant then my last period would have been on june 23rd and my next period would be 21st july.  My cycle is always 28 days, give or take day.  My ovulation is also always 14 days from the first day of my cycle.

Now my questions are:-

1.  Just like a period 1st day is classed from the start of full-flow bleeding, which day do i class a miscarriage from?
2.  Is having a miscarriage classed as having a period?
3.  From the info i have given you, what is the most likely day/date i will ovulate?

Sorry for such a long post, but i would be very grateful if someone could help me ASAP.

thank you

xx

i'm sorry to hear abt ur miscarriage km604.  I haven't passed anything other than blood.  Over the last 2-3 days i've only had very little spotting per day and nothing else.  Don't forget i was only 5wks gone and when they scanned stomach and pelvic, they told me that the cervix was closed and they could find nothing at all.

If it still shows positive, then the pregnancy horomone is obivously still in your system and you aren't ovulating yet.  When I m/c'd, it was natural and complete.  The bleeding lasted 7 days and I got my period again 8 weeks after the bleeding started.  Everyone's bodies are different and it doesn't matter whether you've had a d&c or not, your body will need to adjust.  Maybe you should have your doctor's monitor your beta hcg until it goes down to 0.  Your body won't begin it's normal cycle until all of the hormone is out of your system.  I just wanted to give my story, since I had a natural m/c and my period didn't come until 8 weeks later (which my OBYGN said it could up to 6-8 weeks).  I don't know exactly how far along I was, but based on when my last period was I was probably 7-8 weeks.  Have you passed anything?

just to up-date you all, i have noticed since yesterday evening that i am still spotting. It is day 5 today so i assume this is normal as many of you have said bleeding/spotting continues for between 6-8 days after the first day of full flow of bleeding just as like an AF, it is water like blood, in very small amounts like the end of my AF.  I also did a pregnancy test in the morning today and it still shows positive.

well thanks for all your replies girls. Ii felt very isolated when my m/c happened, but since i've read your accounts, i know that i'm not on my own.

Since m/c messes up some women's cycles, me and DH have had intercourse today.  I know its early, but we don't want to risk missing the O, incase it came too early.  Also just to let you know, my bleeding has stopped today..i don't even have spotting.

Yes, it all depends how your body reacts to your M/C. I've also heard a woman is more fertile after a M/C. I had one as well that started on June 24, and lasted a week. I was about as far along as you were, and also didn't need a D&C. I've been told to start counting from the day your M/C started, as your normal timing for your period starts over. I know you can start O around 14 days after, but it also can takes a few months to get on track, as the other ladies have said. But I'm at day 13 and I started O yesterday. So you never know! Good luck!

i read you can have sex 2-3 days after the bleeding stops, but if you feel up to it, I would go for it. i just used OPK's and didn't have sex for a few days to make sure my cervix was closed..i didnt want an infection! i really think they might be the best way to predict what may happen. everything i've read on the internet said you "can" O as early as 14 days after miscarriage, but that doesn't mean you can't earlier in my mind. anything can happen at this point...good luck!
