I had a waterbirth with my son, with only gas and air at around 7-8cm as i was at home until then. Best experience ever!!!! I 'plan' on the same birth plan this time.
I delivered my nine pound son three years ago totally med-free. It was the most amazing thing I've ever done and definitely the hardest but totally worth it and can't wait to do it again. I asked for nubain when I was in transition but my midwife knew I really didn't want it and talked me through it and I was really glad she did. My pain control was the warm water in the tub and remembering to breathe through the contractions. I'm stubborn too and knew that if my mama could have three natural deliveries I could do it too and knew my body was made for this and could totally handle it and that I didn't want to miss anything by being drugged up and didn't want to risk further interventions (like how pain meds can slow down labor and then they want to push pitocin - that sort of thing). It was wicked hard. But it was the most empowering thing I ever did. Never ever felt so strong in my whole life.
Take into consideration that all pregnancies and labors are different. However, I had an epidural with my first that weighed 5 lbs 10oz. I decided to go all natural with my second and almost begged for the medicine at the last moments lol. But it was over before I knew it and the experience was worth it. I am on my third child and bravely choosing to do an all natural delivery again. :)
I had to use pitocen to get my labor going after my water was broken. But I went med free other than that. My birth story is on my profile under journals.
