Repeat c-section mama's!

I need some reassurance!!! I had a great first c-section, but was put under, I recovered really well, and I'll be having my 2nd in about 48 hours! How is it to be awake?! Do you truly feel no pain? Do you start feeling pain in the recovery room? Did you freak out about knowing what was going on behind the screen (my biggest fear) spinal?! Since I never had one before! I need some positive reassurance, I'm getting so nervous!!!

the spinal isn't bad, ive had a many of them, the last one i had for some reason they couldn't get it in the right spot and was stuck multiple times which got pretty uncomfortable. there is a nurse or two there to coach you through it and hold you in the right position if needed. i was given an iv before they did anything and got me full of fluids and they gave me some pain meds in my iv to kinda put me at ease before doing the spinal, i get it everytime. its like a sting and maybe a lil pinch sometimes, it will be sore on that spot for a few days after but you will more than likely be sore from the c-section and not notice much, i was not given an epideral also, i was given meds through my iv the first day and the second day, on the thrid day i got to come home but a few hr before leaving they went ahead and removed my iv and i had a pain pill an hr before leaving the hospital. i didn't feel anything at all except dr push on my upper abdomen maybe twice to push her down and then we heard her cry, you can tell from my pics right after seeing her i was all drugged up and groggy for sure. dnt panic it'll all be fine.

I feel like the more experiences I read the calmer I have been getting. I mean, I have seen real scary ones, but like I said most are the emergency ones. I don't think my guy is gonna turn, and honestly since theywant hin out due to my BP I think c-sec is the best option. Wth pitocin kick starting labor, I wonder honestly.if its  good option for me. If I start panicking I will be worse offwith my bp and I don't want that stress on the baby.

Emergency c-sections are definitely scary, mostly for me because I knew my son's life was in trouble than the whole surgery aspect. I'm just hoping everything goes great tomorrow and we all adjust well!

I got an emergency c section last saturday due to fetal distress. I had the option for the spinal, he wanted juat the epidural but I said hell no. The only thing that bothered me was feeling kike I couldnt breathe when they were cutting him out. And the fact that I labored for 22 hours and pushed for 2, so after the epidural and staydok for that with the spinal block on top of it, the whole experiemce didnt feel like it was happening at all. Plus, it was like 5-10 minutes after they cut him out that I got to hold him, which was only near me because I could barely move. He was born finally at 4:57am, and my legs finally stopped being numb at about 11 am. It wasn't what I expected for birth at all, bug I'm glad my little man is here.

These are the questions I have that I am asking at my next appt. Every week I have new ones haha, and I am not shy asking. I do not like surprises....

What kinds of pain can I expect to feel?
How long do I have to stay at the hospital?
What kind of anesthesia will be used?
How long before it wears off?
How long does the surgery take?
When planned out, does the surgery have a good success rate?
What if I feel pain during the procedure?
What part of my body will be numb?
Will I have my baby as soon as he is out of me and cleaned off?

What qs did u ask? Haven't really talked much with my doc. Im only 15w but id like a general idea on what u should discuss. With my first u had blind trust cuz ppl drove hrs to see him, he was the best im that area. Now I feel sorta clueless...

I don't blame you at all, I've heard some horror stories from turning babies, I wouldn't risk it either! My recovery was really really great with my first, I was back to feeling just about 100% except for lifting about a week and a half later. I'm just nervous about the surgery while being awake, not so much the pain and recovery.

I'm not! This one is different, my previous OB left and I didn't like the OB that came in for him, so I switched. I really like him, and he's very confident in himself so hopefully he's as confident in surgery or I'm in trouble haha!

Hmmm, well I will just have to add that to my ist of questions I plan on asking when I have my next appt thursday and when i have my anesthetic consultation appt! I couldve sworn doctor said epidural, see I was going to just be induced but hes still in breech, theyre gonna see if he turns by the 25th, if not theyre doing c-section, hubby and I opted not to turn him.

I've actually heard of a few women getting an epidural and on a very high constant amount of it throughout a c-section but most doctors do spinal (that I'm aware of) for c-sections.

Haha, that's too funny!! I wouldn't want to move my arms even if my husband wasn't holding them!! I never even got an epidural and the air bubble went to my shoulder!!

Spinal and epidural are different, my doctor said they only use the spinal for routine c-sections but every doctor is different on what they use!

Are u getting c-section??? With that its a spinal tap. With labor its epidural(if u opt for it) I have NEVER EVER heard of a light anesthesia for surgery. Cuz tho common that's exactly what c-sections are. That concept didnt sink in with me til I was past 30weeks with my first.

See I heard a spinal tap and epidural were different, and doctor suggested theyd be using the epidural.

When u get and epidural it is common for gas to go into ur shoulder. If u already have gas problems (problems releasing) then it could travel anywhere. Mine travel everywhere.

Never heard a gas mask on routine c-sections... but I ain't heard it all!! Lol
