Repeat c-section mama's!

I need some reassurance!!! I had a great first c-section, but was put under, I recovered really well, and I'll be having my 2nd in about 48 hours! How is it to be awake?! Do you truly feel no pain? Do you start feeling pain in the recovery room? Did you freak out about knowing what was going on behind the screen (my biggest fear) spinal?! Since I never had one before! I need some positive reassurance, I'm getting so nervous!!!

the spinal isn't bad, ive had a many of them, the last one i had for some reason they couldn't get it in the right spot and was stuck multiple times which got pretty uncomfortable. there is a nurse or two there to coach you through it and hold you in the right position if needed. i was given an iv before they did anything and got me full of fluids and they gave me some pain meds in my iv to kinda put me at ease before doing the spinal, i get it everytime. its like a sting and maybe a lil pinch sometimes, it will be sore on that spot for a few days after but you will more than likely be sore from the c-section and not notice much, i was not given an epideral also, i was given meds through my iv the first day and the second day, on the thrid day i got to come home but a few hr before leaving they went ahead and removed my iv and i had a pain pill an hr before leaving the hospital. i didn't feel anything at all except dr push on my upper abdomen maybe twice to push her down and then we heard her cry, you can tell from my pics right after seeing her i was all drugged up and groggy for sure. dnt panic it'll all be fine.

psrivs - How was getting the spinal though? Anything to worry about? I was so terrified to get a needle in my back I never got an epidural with my son either, that's why I was put under :( I'll be back telling how it went though definitely!!

searra we went to the arcade yesterday and spent the day there, went out to dinner and a couple stores and let him pick a few things, plus he'll be getting a big brother present from Chloe when he meets her for the first time. Today we're relaxing, getting the last minute stuff together and right now him and Daddy are out fixing a tire haha!

Ohhh good, I'm worried something is going to go wrong with it, and my husband can't be in the room when it's done until I'm laying down, hopefully I don't panic not being able to move my lower half haha!

Its not bad being awake! I was with my daughter! The main thing u feel is pressure from them pushing on the top of ur belly to push the baby through the cut! My ob left my epidural in that night and took it out the next day! It really was great! Good luck and congrats!

Ohh good. I'm only getting a spinal so she said it should wear off fairly quickly, but I'll be hooked up to an IV so as soon as I feel pain I can get pain meds. Can't wait for it to be over!!

Im a ftm and at this point have a scheduled c-section. I want to be awake to meet baby. I kee reading.horror stories, but I look for the positive ones, because it looks as though all the horror stories come from emergency c-secs. I am nervous, but staying optimistic. The doctors are qualified for this. I just wonder how long they will keep us after the surgery, like in the hospital. I hope it goes fantastic for you! You will be great, please let me know how it goes! I go in on the 25th for mine!

I had csection with my daughter and I didn't freak out, they let me watch through a big mirror! I had to be alone getting the spinal but a nurse stands in front of your legs and talks you through it and by the time your laying they let hubby in by you.. As for recovery, while it wears off they pump you full of other meds so you will be quite groggy. But not bad at all. The worst part for me was my first walk and trying to pass the excess gas left in you (gross I know). But mine was ok and i'm going for another April 8th. Good luck and please let me know how it goes! Does your doc do tummy tuck before stitching you back up?! I'm excited for that part haha

I had a emergency c-section with my first, put completely under and mine was actually great, I recovered really well, and we both did great. This time I'll be awake, that's why I'm scared haha! If the scariest ones you're reading is the emergency c-section, which mine was surprisingly easy, I hope a planned one will be a breeze!!

Wow you're so brave, haha!! I can't even watch a video of a c-section, it makes me nauseous!! I remember the gas with the first one, but my gas bubble got trapped in my friggen SHOULDER and it KILLED!! I also woke up from my c-section with no pain medicines since I was completely under and didn't have the epidural before, so that was pretty painful, and I was so, so groggy, I'm sure the pain meds can't make me any worse than that was. I felt like my arms weren't functioning right, haha!! I'll be back posting how it goes though. I'm not sure if my doctor does a tummy tuck!?! Your doctor does?! I hope mine does, haha!!

My worst thing going in was they strap ur arms down.  Made me a lil freaked out. The spinal isn't too bad but I did have an epidural so... I had 8lbs14oz baby and the pressure from them pushing hard on my upper belly was uncomfortable. The meds really really kick in after baby's born. In a bunch of first pics im not even there mentally and it shows. On the recovery room I slept. But all went really well. I wish I had that same doc but I moved so diff all around makes me nervous to opt for it again. But more than likely will. Good luck! Remember totally worth it for baby. And U'll see her soon!

My doctor isn't strapping my arms down, thank god! He said he'd leave them free so I can hold her as soon as she's here. I was worried about that, too! My first was 8lbs 9.5ozs, and she's measuring bigger than he was! Ahh. I'm really looking forward to holding her right after because I didn't get to hold my son til he was almost 3 hours old, I woke up about 2 1/2 hours later and the first half an hour I couldn't even function with my arms to hold him. I'm just ready for her to be here and it to be over!!

Because your arms aren't numb so you can't flail around or reach around the curtain, I'm sure. They don't want you pulling the screen down or doing anything you shouldn't be with um!

Really weird... my hub is 6'6 and he watched everything going on over the screen. He thought it was cool.

They strap u in so u don't jerk and hit or try to flip or anything. Like ktowne said.

Only thing looking back that bothered me was I was so doped I didn't get full emotions. I knew what was going on but couldn't feel the ultimate joy. I guess I should talk to my doc and find out his methods of delivering.

Wow you have a brave husband, haha!! My husband will stay very close to my head and pray to god he doesn't see anything! He gets soo queezy seeing me hurt at all. He cried with every contraction with my son, and flipped out on the doctor when they wouldn't let him in the OR with my first c-section, so he won't be doing any peaking, he may pass out! I'm hoping I'll be coherent enough to hold her and know what's going on after she's out!
