When do you tell Family you are expecting?

I'm having a hard time keeping my pregnancy on the down low. I'm 7 weeks now and really want to tell my parents so i can ask my mom about her pregnancies and have her answer questions that I have. ... is it okay to tell immediate family, or should i do my best to wait? So confused :S my husband wants to keep it a secret until 12 weeks but my dads 50th birthday is coming up and how can I keep something so exciting a secret!? Help!!

I told my whole family when I found out at 5 weeks. I didnt even know how far along I was just knee I was pregnant. I dont think planning for a miscarriage is necessary, plus youll want your families support if that did happen. so I say go ahead and share the news :)

We told my parents and sister the day after I found out and everyone else at 12 weeks. I think it's perfectly OK to tell your parents because even if something goes wrong, they will be there to help you through it.

I told my immediate family right away, but waited to tell grandparents, aunts and uncles etc and friends till 12 weeks...i wanted risk of early mc to be over, but i didnt see what it would hurt to tell my folks, and mil and fil. They would of been told of a mc anyways, wether they know beforehand if i was. pregnant or not, so i figured they might as well know early lol. We just asked them to keep it on the down low till we were ready to tell others. My mom had a hard time keeping quiet, but she did. Do what feels comfortable for you, but make sure your both on board with whatever you decide...its both of yours baby, and family after all.

Thats tricky as it needs to be something you agree on, would hubby consider telling parents only and swearing them to secrecy?   When we found out I was pregnant, we had no idea how far along we were (turns out we were just shy of 11 weeks anyway) so agreed to tell our parents and his little sister only straight away and swore them to secrecy.   We had our Dr appointment the next week and a scan booked for the week after that as we didn't have a clue how far along we were (I didn;t get periods due to the Pill I was on) and turns out we were 13+5 at our scan - it was then that we told the rest of our family, then once they knew we told our friends.   It's hard keeping something like that a secret, esp if you are at a "do" fo your dads 50th and have to expalin why you can;t have a drink x
