Thank you ladies... will they let me change the baby into her own clothes or will they make me keep her in hospital clothes before I leave? Do i need to bring diapers or bottles of formula??
Some relaxing music is always helpful, and a picture of a loved one or a special trip to focus on during contractions, something to hold onto like a small rubber ball so you don't break your coaches hand!
if your planning to breastfeed a boppy pillow was a must for me!!!
All I took were changes of clothes for baby and for me (make sure you have socks, undies, bras).
Toiletries
Camera/camcorder
Purse/wallet
The hospital should have everything else (snacks, pads, diapers, etc.).
lip balm---hospitals are SOOOOO dry and a lip exfolaint if you have one
I got this from Pampers list
1 or 2 nursing bras
Nightgown
Bathrobe
Enough underwear for your stay, plus a couple of extras
Toiletries (if your hospital doesn't supply them) for you and your partner; avoid heavy fragrances
A cheap watch to time contractions (leave valuables at home)
A clean maternity outfit to go home in (you'll still look about six months pregnant even after you've delivered)
Something warm for the baby to wear home
A camera and film
Your health card, checkbook, credit card, cell phone or phone card, and address book
Snacks such as fruit, crackers, and juice
Old non-skid slippers (you don't want amniotic fluid drips messing up brand-new ones)
Flip Flops for the shower
Your own pillow if you want it
My favorite thing to bring to the hospital is my pillow and a funky pillow case. You love having the extra pillow and the pillow case can get ruined so dont bring your good one. Another nice thing to bring is socks. they usually give you a pair, but it is nice having a long pair if you want to cover more of your legs. Plus I get the crazy striped ones! Oh! And a really girly smelling soap for the shower and a nice shampoo. It is really nice to get clean afterwards.
The regular things are good to have like
toiletries,
change of clothes
baby needs etc
but I wouldn't recommend bringing your own nightgown, it will get ruined. That is what the hospital gowns are for.
Someone sells prepacked hospital bags on line, it is good to get some ideas from her.
Just for fun, but I would pack a hand held game....With my last baby I bought a Gameboy and this time I've already bought me a Nintendo DS. It really does help to pass the time during labor and distracts you as well.
