Puking is dangerous under anesthesia and they are probably just being cautious. You can't even eat with an epidural. When I had my son, i had him at 11:48pm on a friday and hadn't eaten a meal since thursday morning for breakfast before I started getting contractions. I was STARVING but at least I knew my little man was safe.

I was induced on a Saturday morning and wasn't allowed to eat anything after midnight, but stopped eating around 9 pm Friday. I had my baby at 12:30 pm on Sunday, and didn't eat until dinner time except for popsicles, ice chips, and one cup of applesauce. If they aren't letting you eat, it's because if you need an emergency c-section your stomach should be empty. I wouldn't risk sneaking something and then having an issue if you would need a c-section. I know it's uncomfortable to be so hungry, but it's worth it for your safety and that of your baby.

I'll bet it tasted delicious, after all that waiting!  Good luck with the pitocin.  That stuff made my ankles and lower legs swell up like umbrella stands.  Fortunately it doesn't do that to everyone!

If they are not letting you eat, it's probably because they think you might need an emergency C-section.  Ask them this directly, and don't sneak in any food if they think there is a chance.  Sure, in normal labor if you throw up it is not a huge deal, but if you vomit in your mask when knocked out, you can aspirate it into your lungs and that is mondo serious.

The latest recommendations are to let you to eat. If you puke, you puke. Puking is a natual part of labor FFS. How do the hospitals not know the natural and normal part signs of labor beyond contracts? Diarihea, puking, the shakes, being massively hungry  (your body craving energy for labor), are all typical for labor.

You're body needs the natural energy to labor, IVs are proven not to cut it. Eat something quality to be give you energy, not fast food. Remind thr hospital to look up the current recommends, they clearly are not up to date.

If they are going to need to knock you out for an emergency C-section, you need to have not eaten in a while or there is a risk of vomiting while under the anaesthesia and that, believe me, is dangerous.  Please talk to your nurses and your doctor and find out what they think is going on and what their concerns are, and ask if even broth is forbidden given the situation.

That's crazy... I feel as though you should be able to eat something. Maybe not anything solid but at least some mashed potatoes. Not eating since 10am is just torture to me.

I was allowed broth. Talk to them, let them know you haven't felt the baby and that you're really hungry. Your sugar could be dropping and that may increase the blood sugar of your baby. Communication is key, just let them know what you need.

I hope you have a safe delivery hun but its best not to eat before birth just for precautions if a c-section is needed. But if you just cant take it anymore I do suggest eating small like crackers I did that with my first born and was totally satisfied after lol those crackers brought me so much joy... Again goodluck

Clarissa,  prayers for your baby if you haven't felt the baby move all day.

If you're hungry after a half day,  and they're worried about  your baby,  honestly,  the last problem you have is that  you're hungry.

Prayers for your baby - hope everything goes well.

If you're really hungry though, eat something. They shouldn't starve you.
