age/ young mothers.

So please don't take this wrong. We are all young! But I am seeing more and more very young mothers or preggers. And just want to now how it makes everyone feel. My sisters entire class seems pregnant. 15-17 years of age. I know age doesn't define the type of mother you are! I was 16 and pregnant and am now 22 with my 3rd on the way. But I'm established and been married since my first. I get a lot of negative looks comments ex ex. But even I sometimes look at these girls who look fresh out of middle school and want to just hug them up cause their just looking so young.  I am terrified because I want the best for my own daughter! But would never turn her away if she came to me with a baby issue and would never push abortion or anything its her choice! But guess I just wanted to know how it made everyone feel even you super young mommas how are you feeling. I know I was so lost and alone at 16.

My mom was 15 when she had my sister. 18 when she had my brother and 22 when she had me. She wanted nothing but the best for us. She never wanted us to be teen moms because of how hard and the struggle she went through. I just feel bad for the girls who have like 4 kids by mid 20's with all different fathers. I will never understand how someone could put their children through that.

I feel that it is very common, I know a lot of teen mothers. I'm 17 & 35 weeks, this wasn't planned. I guess yoi could say its bitter sweet. I've dreamt of a family my whole life but didn't imagine it starting for at least 5 more years. My boyfriend is very supportive & a great guy, we plan to get married, even before rhe pregnancy. I feel scared & nervous, I know it'll make our lives harder. There's a lot that will be hard. I'm ready in a way that I have to be, but I feel blessed, some women can't have children at all. Overall now I'm excited & happy to be a mother.

I dont judge when i see teen moms, more i feel a little sad for them...Not saying they wont be great moms or do amazing things with their lives, i just know how difficult learning to parent can be even as an adult with your life in order...much less when your still figuring out what you want out of life, where you wanna go, who you wanna be...at an age when you should be allowed to focus on you now you have to put you aside for baby. I just want to love on them, and help and support in any way i can.

Awe. My mom had her first at 14 and then me and my sis in her 20s so I know what your saying exactly and we all have a different father. Never even met mine :( a baby is such a blessing but a life long commitment :) I love my children and was born to be a mommy!!
But I'm not sure why their is such a crazy rise in being unsafe :/ if not pregnacy they could get all sorts of yuckys I'm gonna preach to my baby girl. My mom never told me anything!! So I think that has a lot to do with it. Uneducated fully on sex ed and such.

It worries me a bit. My mother had me young and made good and bad decisions at her age. I worry about how focused these younger women are going to be in their lives to continue education and to better themselves to then teach and educate their own children....and not just on what is "cool" or "in". I mean morale and intellect.
I know that there are young women out there that are a different breed and when everyone goes right, they go left, I happen to be one of them. Keep and open mind and look to learn anything and everything possible in life. Always question things, and dig until I find my answers. I fear or the young women who are blinded by media and whats popular rather than family values and self reliance and respect. I think that some young women are made to be stronger and wiser by becoming a mother. But when "babies are having babies" (meaning young minded immature, completely unprepared to make the necessary sacrifices)......its scary

I have to agree. There's so much teen moms will miss out on in life because their children become #1 priority (i hope anyways). Plus it makes going through school and working, etc more difficult. Just a ton of stress that a more -don't take this the wrong way- 'mature' family wouldn't have to deal with or would at least be able to better manage. I myself am young (21) but I'm married and my husband and i both have good jobs. Again I don't mean to offend anyone.

In my nieces class there is a 12 yr old girl just turned 13 and had a baby. She was12 when she got pregnant who knows when she started having sex. I was a mom at 17. But it breaks my heart seeing babies having babies. Because I have 2 girls and this is one of my worst fears is having my babies have babies before college. The thought is terrifying.

I think that not only is it so common now but also its widely accepted. Nowadays its like young girls don't even worry about getting pregnant because they know the consequences wont be as bad or that they will just fit in because so many others are pregnant. I admit that my pregnancy wasn't planned. I'm 21 and just had my lil man on the 19th. But I do have to say I was a senior in college and engaged before I got pregnant and got happily married and graduated before he arrived. I just wish girls, especially the young ones who imo, shouldn't even be thinking of sex, would take more precautions if they are going to be sexually active. That being said, I have to give props to all the young moms who actually. Step up and grow up and take care of their own kids instead of pawning the responsibility off on someone else.

I feel that gatorgirl def made the right choices at  a young age and valuable choices. .if I was younger I would def like to be married and established when having my kids and I have alot of respect for u and alot to the moms that are young and going at it alone or moms that are going out it alone in general my mom was a single mom and I know it was hard for her..I mean my own personal opinion I think girls should wait until at least 17 to.let their body still go through changes and motions of maturity...

I get a lot of odd looks just because me and the father look really young even though we're 24&25 having our first. I doubt that will ever stop really. At least I know that I'm healthy and responsible, that's all that matters really. Guess I'm saying, don't be fast to judge ;)

I'm only 19 and I feel SO young. I don't feel ready to have a baby at all, I feel like I'm still a kid. But, my mom had my older brother when she was 19. She had absolutely no family (they kicked her out when she told them) and her baby daddy was in prison while she was pregnant/ a year or two after she had him. She managed to go to college full time, work full time, and raise a baby. All on her own. So I know its gonna be really fricken hard lol but if she could do it with the circumstances she had, then I think anybody could :)

MiniLyssa- I got terrible looks while pregnant. One day I finally got tired of it when my husband and i walked by a woman who scoffed and said "yet another kid dumb enough to get pregnant and probably won't even take care of it." I told the lady that I was a married college graduate with a job and if she had a problem with that then she could kiss my pregnant ***. And i walked away. Lol

I blame that 16 and pregnant and teen mom.....I know it happens but it being widely accepted is still a bit shocking to me. The only reason people look at younger women or couples so oddly is because look at this generation of young adults and teen.....not saying all of us, but there are many that are out of control and completely tainted. I look younger than my age and I get it all of the time, and especially when someone knows that Im a single pregnant woman.

Like I said, I know that young parents are completely capable of being AWESOME parents.....but the ones who think its "cool" or a walk in the park are only hurting these children by not pushing them to be all that they can be as children and growing up. There was no ADD/ADHD 30 years ago, now its EVERYWHERE!!! I blame it on misguided focus and energy. People stick kids in front of a TV or computer and expect the mass media to raise their children.......I didn't have cable, I didn't have internet as a child. No cell phone until I was old enough to get one on my own, did chores to earn money, learned to cook instead of microwaved or fast food, played in the dirt, had a wild imagination and rolled around with dogs for Christ sake. Knew how to fish, camp, mow the lawn, do housework, take care of siblings, interact with adults in a polite manner...etc, all by the age of 5!!! My parents were young (mom was 17 when she had me and dad was 22). But they did not F around when it came to me because they wanted better for me.

My parents had me and my siblings when they were in their 30's. I had my first at age 16 i am now 22 & pregnant with #4 Having children at a young age is so difficult especially if you aren't established. as i wasn't and still struggle just noy as much. I just want all teen moms to realize that its hard and even harder if you give birth to childreb with disabilities. i have two daughters ages 5 and 4 who have cystic fibrosis, and not once when i was pregnant di i even think of these risks i was taking. After finding out my first had cf i was devistated and had no clue wat i was getting myself into.. i was living with family and dropped out of high school. because i had a child i thought i was grown up enough to not have to do schooling and now i am still suffering from it. I didnt realize how hard it would be to get a good job and a place to live and loosing nearly all my friends. From one young mom tto other young women who want children my advice would be to wait hold on to your youth as long as u can, and for the young pregnant women or already young moms cherish ur children they truely are a blessing as they can change your whole life for the better. But this day and age i see so many young moms raising there children and struggeling.. As i am as well it can be soo hard! But i truley respect every young mom who is doing there best!

I agree GordonBaby. I was raised so much differently than the kids I see nowadays. It blows my mind to see kids in elementary school with cell phones and ipads and no respect for adults. I had to earn everything I got, including privledges like something as simple as going to spend the night at a friends. And I definitely wasn't able to go out on a school night or stay out late on weekends. I wasn't even allowed to go out with anyone unless my dad met them and couldn't stay with them unless he talked to their parents. Before I was in middle school I could cook more food than most college and high-school students I know. Some say my father (who raised 4 girls as a single dad) was strict but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I guess he was a little old fashioned in a sense. Especially since he knew how much trouble a kid could get into with him being in trouble his whole life almost.  Lol

im 18, and im 28 weeks pregnant i have already graduated hs and got my cosmetics degree i've worked since i was 16 and payed for most of my own stuff, im young but i dont think im going to be a bad mom as far as work i work 2 jobs to make sure when my daughters born she can have anything she needs.. i know not all teen moms work and are mature to start with but im sure when they have there child they mature and learn as long as everythings not givin to them. the thing i dont understand is people who look down at 13,14,15 year olds that get pregnant cause i dont believe thats there fault you think they were ever put on birth control or talked to about sex or anything they were probably free to do whatever they wanted and when they got pregnant its there parents fault they never did anything to stop this why not look down on the parent. I was in lowes the other day and a older man(maybe in his 50/60's) asked me why would i get pregnant at such a young age did i not care that it was just giving my parents another mouth to feed? you see thats what people expect from teen moms, and i know there are many other teen moms like me who want nothing but the best for there child and work and support them.

Yeah but ^^not all teen moms can do that. Like a 13 yr old child can't legally work, drive, can't check herself out of school, etc. I know a lot of moms my age who still choose to party over take care of their kids. I salute teen moms who finish school and go to college. And actually take care of their kids but I don't support "teen moms" because most girls I met who are teen moms have kids because they can and don't raise their kids and live off their parents and expect ma and pop to do everything. I did it all on my own with no help from my bd(husband now) for over a year after our first ones birth!!! I graduated with high honors and went to college and am back in college now. During my first round at university I would go to high schools and present myself and talk about abstinence, safe sex, and smart choices.

This was never me being judging. I was and am young. And know their are all walks of life out their. And as I initially stated age doesn't define the type of mother you are. Its in your heart.
You all make very good points. And all you brave and strong mommies are wonderful and admirable for doing what's right.
And those who do not make us all look bad. And people assume whom we are. I never look at another young mother with disgust. My heart opens right up to them.  And I only wish the best. But its as everyone agrees so much more common. And having a daughter I want her to have the world. I didn't have a good mom. Or sex education. Hell I thought I was going to bleed to death an die when I got my first period lmao.
How do we approach something so accepted with our own daughters and sons!! The hell if I would let my son walk out on his baby! Like its OK to be pregnant at 16 but don't do it.....

I got pregnant witb my son when i was 15. I was in a really bad place selling drugs doing drugs and always drunk. I stopped every thing the day i found out i was pregnant ( my birth control failed) my son saved my life. It breaks my heart though that i know alot of teens wont have the strength to make the choice i made or the support i had.

I am 18 years old and 26 weeks pregnant with my first. When I found out I was pregnant abortion was never an option for me. I decided to have sex therefore I needed to accept the after math. Sometimes it does make me sad thay I won't be able to expierence things that others my age without babies get to but I love my baby more then anything. When I got pregnant I refused to allow the state and my parents take care of my baby. I got my **** together and am now going to be able to pay for everything he needs.

I think its sad.my little sister is 15 and when she was in junior high there were like 6 girls pregnant. 12 and 13 year old girls! And they think they are cool!!! I'm appalled! I got pregnant in high school and was so upset that I wouldn't be able to go to college out of state and w.e. and these girls are TRYING to get pregnant. I wish they would let teen parents go speak to these girls in high school BC whatever the school is trying isnt working.
