maybe letting him know your profession will help him to tone down the "first time mommy who knows nothing and is just getting on my nerves" tone.
Rather than bristle at him, next time he begins, say very mildly "Did you happen to know that I am an ultrasound tech?" and then see if he changes his pompous tone.
I HATE telling any doctor that Im a nurse , they always expect me to know more then I do (I am not an OB nurse!!) However, my OB got wind of my being a nurse somehow and he actually speaks to me like a professional. I have to remind him sometimes that I really dont know everything about pregnancy lol, but it was a big change from my first few appointments when he did not know what I did for a living.
I remember with my first pregnancy I felt that my OB treated me like I was an idiot, but I, like you, had no choice but to go to him due to insurance issues. Unfortunately he continued to treat me like an idiot even after I had my baby :/ I have worked with him a few times, and now that he knows that Im an ICU nurse, he treats me with much more professional and personal respect. *****, but some people are just rude....Hope it gets better for you!
Yea I agree he should be talked to in the Same manner in which he dishes it out. Maybe then he will see I'm not the one for the rude behavior. Too bad I can't get another doctor. It's messed up how he is the only doc at the hospital who accepts My insurance. I will just leave it to God.
I was going to suggest finding a new Dr.. but otherwise maybe talk to him the way he's talking to you. Talk to him and tell him you don't appreciate the way he speaks to you. Explain you're an US tech....and you understand things.
