c-section or a VACS

My husband and I are trying to decided what we should do. He seems okay with leaving the decision up to me but I am not sure what I want to do.  I know that there are dangers with c-sections and with VACS (vaginal after c-section) I had a c-section with my daughter in October of 2009 and now I am due Jan. 24 2011. I know that they are close and I am not sure if this effects the decision or not.  My doctor told me that if I want to have more kids then I should do I VACS, but she also said that I could have 3 c-sections. I know people how have had 3 or even 4.  I am just not sure if I can put my baby's life in danger so that I can have the chance to have more kids in the future. I am not even sure which is better.  I want to know what is healthier for my baby. Any suggestions?

Depending on waht the reasons for your first c/s were, a VBAC is actually much safer and healthier for both you and the baby.  I had a c/s with my first and have since had five VBAC's.  What were the reasons for the first c/s?

I would suggest you google "ICAN online" it's the international cesarean awareness network and it has a lot of valuable information on VBAC versus repeat cesarean.

This past June I believe it was, the ACOG released less restrictive guidelines on VBAC's and are now promoting them more so than ever.  ACOG believes that there are too many unneccesary cesareans being performed and this increases the risks to both mother and baby.

My water broke early Saturday morning like 5 in the morning and contractions didn't start until late in the afternoon like around 3. The doctor and nurses thought that I would deliver in the morning or late night but I never got passed 2 centimers.  Then sunday morning they started to induce. Each hour they increased the medicine until  3 o'clock and then the decided to do a c-section. they said that she was too big to come out but she was only 8 pounds. her head was 13 centimers so I thought that that had more to do with it, unless she was just not coming down right.  I still only had it to 2 cenitmers.

was your 1st baby born via c section for complications or a long labour that may happen with this baby? way up the pros and cons and see which seems better idea. Im sure baby no.2 will be safe for a VAC. remember there are epidurals or water births available if you are weary about going natural. you could plan a VAC and need a c section during labour or vise versa anyways. anything can happen during any labour xo
