I didn't know you could use tums while you were pregnant ; this is my 1st one so im kinda scared to take anything , even when my doctors tells me its okay ; but it's like i have heartburn every single day ; i just get so tired of it. I will deff. ask my doctor on my next app. what i can take for it. (: thanks for the information & advice !! appreciate it .
Milk and gaviscon / gaviscon cool tablets. Due to the high salt content in baking soda, pregnant women shouldn't use it as treatment for heartburn. Can also send your blood pressure high.
"Baking soda is rich in sodium, so its excess intake can create risks and complications in people who have high blood pressure. Being high in sodium, it is not recommended for pregnant women at all, as high sodium content in the body of the woman can cause water retention"
I don't usually get hartburn at all and haven't had it when I found out the cause was a spicy and fatty food. The chemical in chilly peppers is known to cause heartburn and the smell of garlic nauseates me still and it never used to. So naturally I avoid the smell because it makes me feel so sick.
I was using Tums....they stopped working and now I'm on pepcid as needed.
baking soda and water mixed with something sweet. Or Calcium carbonate tablets crushed and mixed with water or with mint tea. Tums has the exact same calcium as the supplement tablet but I would discourage the stronger heartburn meds. A weird one that works but doesn't taste too good is diluted apple cider vinegar. Sometimes the heartburn is caused by capsaiacin and vinigar neutralizes the spicy substance by dissolving the fat that it is processed in. With pepperoni it is the spice it is in and apple cider vinegar can help ot. Just don't drink it straight out of the bottle or you end up with a sour upset stomach.
I can't remember which one, but my sis used either mylanta or malox and swore by it. Me... tums. good luck!
My doc give me pepcid 20mg it works good on me .
Peppermint tea. My doc told me not to take Tums, so you might run it by your doctor just to be sure.
I have it super bad too, and tums works wonders for me! I take 2 at a time. Also don't eat for like at least an hour before laying down, and try to avoid spicy food, and chocolate. Hope that helps!
Tums, zantac works really good & lasts longer then tums. Milk works sometimes too.
