3D Ultrasound to determine Gender

So, I've decided that I want to go have a 3D ultrasound at 16 weeks to determine the gender of the baby. Has anyone else done this and had accurate results? I'm considering taking most of my family with me since I will be home with them around that time. (I live in Cali and they are in Ohio) So I though it would be a nice thing for all of us to experience together since they are missing the rest of the pregnancy and will most likely miss the birth as well. I just don't want to go at 16 weeks and be told girl/boy and then come the delivery date and get a big suprise!

I say go for it! It's an amazing experience. I had one done at 19 weeks and posted the pictures in my profile, they came out really good and I could see my little boy's features. I have another one scheduled for this Sunday, I can't wait! I'll be almost 30 weeks so I'm excited to see how he's changed and what he looks like now.

It's so worth it!

Thanks so much for the comments! I really think we are going to do it! I just think this will be something so special to share with my family. I know they say it's better to wait to see facial fetures and everything. Basically between 25-30 weeks you can really see your baby exactly how it will look when they are born! I might just go twice! It's really not that expensive around here. There are a lot of places that do it so it's pretty competitive. Ohio on the other hand it is a bit more expensive there are only a few places that have 3D u/s so, I guess it's worth it for my family to see the little guy/girl though! Thanks agian ladies!!

I found out with my dd at 18 weeks, and they were correct. We also opted for a 3D ultrasound at 28 or 29 weeks to confirm that she was a girl, and DH hadn't been able to make it to any of my appointments bc his job wouldn't let him off. So, it was a great experience for us both, he was so excited to be able to see her! And, she was all girl, no surprises for us!

My cousin in Texas had her scan at 19 weeks and was told girl. A couple months later she had a 3D scan for a fetal assessment and it was a boy! I hardly ever hear of this happening anymore.

My other cousin found out at 13 weeks that she was having a boy, and at 20 weeks he was still a boy. I think it goes either way really. It depends on the skill of the sonographer. Even if it is wrong, you'll still have the joy of being able to see your baby an extra time.

I do know that at 16 weeks its pretty acurate if the baby will cooperate. Some places state they can do early gender prediction with a 98% success rate at 14 weeks even. Hey I would say go for it, especially if its the only thing your family might be able to participate in, at least they will be able to see your little one! Good Luck

I was looking into this as they wont tell you in standard ultrasounds here unless you end up in the fetal assessment department....  I was going to get but decided against it at the last minute because its like the cost of a travel system here...

I heard the best time to get it done is between 25 and 30 weeks.. Here they will not do it before 20 weeks because the images wont be as good.. The one here so far has an 100% gender prediction rate but If I were you, I would wait out a couple more weeks so you are getting your money worth..  It would be nice to have your family there.. My whole family is across the country and when we were going to do it, they had a feature where you could have it stream live online for free.. We were going to do that at the time...

There may be a limit on how many people there can be, i think it was like 8 here
