labor before planned csection?

So my Dr went ahead and scheduled my csection for the 27 of December. He said the hospital won't let him schedule it before 39 weeks unless it's a medical reason. But then he said that I won't make it till Christmas, so I'm confused. He seems to think that I'll have my baby around the 15th or so of December, i thought it was dangerous for me to go into labor or have my water break since i have to have a csection? He said if i go into labor after next week then he will go ahead and take the baby. He said 36-37 weeks is full term and that my baby is pretty much done now. I'd like to keep her in as long as possible, but i want her out too lol. Just wondering if anyone else has gone into labor before their planned csection?

Really?! Thank you! That helped me understand much better! I have been having contractions off and on since I was 29-30 weeks, so the Dr had me on bed rest for a week and basically taking it easy. I'd really like to have her before Christmas though, so I guess after next week I'll be trying everything to get her out lol! Thank you ladies! Gosh I'm so excited! I can't wait for it to be my time!

A doctor can not know when you will go into labor, he is just assuming. And if you go into labor before your scheduled Csection then that would be considered a medical reason to take the baby out. My moms water broke with my sister on the morning of her scheduled Csection, a lot of ppl I know have gone into labor before scheduled date. But if you have not gone into labor then yes there is new laws trying to prevent doctors from inducing and scheduling Csections before the week of 39. That is why you hear people talking about how they changed full term from 37 weeks to 39.

My sisters baby was breech and her c section was scheduled for her actual due date. She went into labor the day before her due date. Everything turned out fine!! :)

I'm having a csection cause I had a previous csection with my first. I went into labor with him, then got induced, then pushed for hours with no meds, then had a csection because he was too big for me to push out. I got a new Dr for this baby. He said he didn't do vbacs so I am scheduled for another csection. I just wanted to hear stories and stuff just in case I go into labor before my csection. I don't understand how my Dr can possibly know that I'll be having my baby before the scheduled date?

My SIL did with her last pregnany and everything turned out fine. She was extreemly high risk also. Why are you having a csection? I think if they are willing to wait that long then it won't be dangerous for you to start labor as long as you get to the hospital asap.
