36 weeks baby is lying transverse

Holy cow!!!  I just got back from my 36 week U/S and everything is ok, baby is very healthy.  However, he is lying transverse.  I have searched everywhere to see exactly what this may mean for us during L&D.  Doc said that if he didn't turn in 2 weeks they would schedule a C-section because I didn't need to go into labor with him lying like this....well no joke.  I have heard that there are some exercises that I can do, is this true?  Help me out ladies.  I do not want to have a C-section if at all possible.  I do know that he may very well change on his own, but what if he is too cramped up in there to flip around?????  Thanks.

JoyRenee is completely correct (I didn't view the site though).  If your doctor is unwilling to perform external version, find another doctor.who will be willing to at least TRY something before just jumping to cutting you open!  The Webster's Breech Technique is something you can contact a chiropractor for.  Make sure it is someone who is well experienced in this technique.

Midwives will use things like ice to encourage movement as well as using a bright flashlight pressed against the pubic hair line.  The light can attract the baby and lead him/her to turn.

It is NOT recommended for mothers to hold their breaths for extended times, so I would advise against diving to the bottom of a pool.  Remember if you are holding your breath, your baby is getting less oxygen.

Your baby is breech? They can help try and turn him around by pushing your stomach or something and he might move, like someone said in another reply, exercises and things but they will do the very best that they can :) Promise :) But you can also push your stomach to try and get him to shiftt his bum :) and he can also move by himself :)

Hopee for the bestt :) Everythin will be okay :) x

I tried being on all fours and moving front to back to try to turn baby number 1 - it did not work - but reading the above posts it makes me giggle... all the things we do to turn the baby - get comfortable - our DH must think we are crazy!!  My husband walked in the other day and I was on all fours rocking to try to get the baby off a nerve.... he asked me if I do that all day long.... Good Luck - I have had 2 sections - they are not fun, I asked if I can try a VBAC and they said no... but considering I am 2cm and 50% effaced - I am going to try to convince one of my drs to pull out the remaining portion of my cervicial stitch and see if things get going - my hopes are that I will get to the hospital and she will be in postion and ready to go vaginally and they will let me... chances are not - but I can hope!

Thank you all for the advice.  The last thing I want is to have a c-section.  I have a 14 month old that will need me when I get home too.  I am hoping that he will turn on his own.  I think I still have plenty of time.  He was head down at my 32 week U/S so I think everything will be ok.  It is just that my doc jumped right to c-section and that got me a little panicked.  I would rather try anything else first.

Yes, there are things you can do.
Here's a helpful article:

If those don't work then your doctor should try to manually move baby so they are head down before going straight to c-section. He needs to be offering you solutions, not just tossing the c-section card on the table without any other information or help.

i also heard you can dive down to the bottom of a deep part of a pool and do a handstand..the weightlessness is supposed to help baby turn.

That happened to me last time I was pregnant. I got an ultrasound at 36 weeks and they told me the baby was breech and gave her 2 weeks to turn on her own. At this point in pregnancy there is still a good chance that your baby will turn... if it doesn't turn by 38 weeks though I think the chance drops dramatically to like 3%. I tried all the exercises and light tricks and music playing and NOTHING worked to turn that baby. You can try lying on an ironing board leaning off the couch dead down, take a flash light and shine it from the top of the belly down to see if baby will follow it or even try playing music near your whoo whoo so that maybe baby will get curious and try to go down there to listen. No promises though. However, I would talk to your doctor and see if you can get an external version (where they turn the baby from the outside of your stomach). I have the lowest pain tolerance and was told that it was going to hurt extremely bad... but I refused to have a c-section and went through with it anyway. Guess what?! It didn't hurt at all. It just felt like pressure on my belly and then the baby flipped and it was all over.

There are excercises you can do though I don't right off hand know what they are, I'm sure you can google it.  The doctor, if he knows how, can try to manually turn the baby though that can be extremely uncomfortable for you.
