medicaid..

I applied for medicaid for my baby and for a secondary insurance for my pregnancy bills (my step dads insurance doesnt cover my pregnancy) a few weeks ago. I went to social services and gave them all the info they requested. Should i be getting a letter or something and should it be taking this long?? Idk the exact date i applied but its been like 3 weeks and my baby is due in 15 days but the doctor thinks he will come earlier..

@mtapson
well they must be getting close then if they only have 45 days. I know I qualify, I live with my bf but they didn't ask for his information and I don't work so as far as they are concerned I don't have income. Thanks they should be getting that letter here soon then.

When I applied...I live in North Dakota...they told me they legally had 45 days to file my case and decide whether or not I could qualify. They literally went down to about 40 days before I got a letter in the mail to find out I was accepted.

Definetly keep bugging them and calling they will hopefully go through the process quicker. I am on my fathers insurance and they don't cover anything for my pregnancy and when I found out I went and applied for Medicaid right away and I took them all the papers the requested and everything and it took me 3 months to get it and everything be situated. And they only would cover 3 months back so I was stressing on how long the process was taking cause I didn't have the money to pay those ridiculous bills. I haven't had my babies yet, but I know that once the baby is born once your approved and all that you just have to call and get the baby added to your case and the baby has insurance then too. I am in PA so I don't know how diffrent things are here than from where your at!

I was never told that he had to be born first and he should be covered for a year according to my state (ND) and I don't have my own insurance, im covered through my step dad and im not working atm, so I cant add him to my insurance.

Lucky. In illinois my doctor told me i have to wait till my baby was born to add him to my insurance... that hed be covered under my name for 30days. Turns out he wasnt and he was born with bilateral clubfoot and the process for his feet had to be put off thill i got
Him added... (2 years ago) hopefully this time is different.

I would call and check that out. It might be because he isn't here yet and they're waiting until the first of the month. But I sent my stuff in through the mail on a Monday and Wednesday I got the letter saying I was approved.

I have insurance through my work and I applied for medicaid because I just wanted something to pick up what my insurance didn't cover. I applied on Thursday and got my acceptance letter on Monday. Mine went through very quick. I live in Ohio though.I would probably call and get a status update on it.
