I've had it twice with no side affects but I'm kinda scared to get it this time but I know the pain will be so bad that I will probly get it again.

I've had all 3 of mine naturally.  The epidural isn't an option for me. I say at least try with out it and if you need it,  get it.

My mindset going in is to go in with an open mind. Thats what I did with my first and got the epidural at 8 cm and liked it and had a good experience with no side effects. This time I am doing the same and if I feel like I need it again I will see. I am goin to try other ways first though. The nurse at the clinic told me to not wait so long this time because it can go faster. I can honestly say though if I miss my chance I wont be disappointed.

I loved my epidural with my first baby. It was a life saver since I was induced and it took almost 40 hours. This time around I plan to do it all natural but the only reason is so that I'm able to experience both.

I just gave birth two weeks ago, epidural was my life saver up until 10 cm, I felt my son come out but it was worth it... everyone's bodies is different, you do not feel the nurses putting the epidural in you the numb you. If you can handle the contractions then go natural, but other wise just get it. It is amazingggggg

I went into my induction thinking I could do it naturally. I got through the first few hours just fine, but then they got worse and I had to get some pain meds, dilauded they were called, once my water broke, they started pitocin. And let me tell you I will NEVER forget the pain I was in lol never ever. I was in labor for 26/27 hours and I got the epidural at 3 cm which took me 6 hours to get to from a zero. I didn't even feel the epi. After I got it though it was heaven. I took some naps, I wasn't the scary screaming pregnant lady anymore. But once it was time to push I turned back into the scary monster haha I was scaring the other pregos in labor at th time. Come to find out only HALF of my vagina got numb. On the right side I felt it all, even the stitches. Dr had to turn up my epi dose twice while giving me stitches

I got the epidural and it was the best experience ever. I got it at 8 cm dialated.
I was able to focus on breathing and pushing. .. not pain.
I got up and walked 30 minutes after i gave birth.  I had no negative side effects and baby was happy as could be.
In my opinion,  you're more relaxed with the epidural And can enjoy the moment even more

I had one 3 weeks ago when i gave birth and i didnt feel it at all. Some people say that it drugs your baby but in my experience i had to have 5 doses of it cause it kept wearing off cause my body was half way rejecting it and with all those doses plus a spinal tap cause my baby wouldnt turn so i had to have a c section.. but even with all that my baby came out perfectly healthy and made a 9.5 on the APGAR scale. So with my experience with it, it was perfectly fine on the baby and i didnt feel it at all when they gave it to me. It was definitely a life saver with how horrible my contractions were. They were pretty much unbareable and strictly pelvic contractions.

It's a choice. It's based on how you feel. I personally think women should go in with 1 of two mind sets. 1. No drugs natural don't care what anyone says(this is my mind set because pain meds ruined my first birth horribly) or 2. No pain meds unless I feel like I can't take it anymore. I personally don't think women should go in with the automatic mind set of drugs just because when you do skin to skin right away it can delay the baby which is awful trust me. And also it can have side effects towards you so I don't think you should go straight into that unless you're at the point you can't take it anymore. This is just my way of thinking about it. I have no problem with people who automatically want an epi or other drugs and I don't try to talk them out of it. But you asked my opinion.

I'm a first time mom and I'm going all natural giving birth in a pool. But everyone I know has gotten one. To not get it is a very hard decision. I did a lot of research and I had the support of my husben to do this. I know it will hurt but I don't want to go tough all the medication one such a beautiful moment like this and don't want to put my baby on stress.

Prepare to get lots of intense responses and heated arguments on this lol. This seems to be a pretty sensitive subject. I will be getting the epidural. Everyone I know who's had babies has had one and everything was fine. It's a matter of choice and opinion. Do what you feel is best for you.
