I got the epi at 7 cm I wasn't progressing fast at all was in labor 22 hours all together I didn't think labor was bad at all the epi helped me progress a lot faster then I was though I went from a 7 to a 10 in maybe an hour my back was sore for a few days but nothing terrible i highly recommend it it also made pushing a lot more enjoyable but if you want to try natural go for it maybe just keep an open mind and when you're in labor you can decide

I think I'm going to try a water birth, I've heard its less painful but you still get to feel everything, that's what puts me off the epidural

Also it's not as painful and scary as people make it out to be.

I have a high tolerance for pain I had both of my babies natural. I'm going to do all natural with this baby as well. After having my daughter I got into a four wheeler accident four wheeler flipped on top of me broke my collar bone and dislocated my shoulder but no tears not even after shock wore off it didn't really hurt. I only started crying after I was scared of the thought of it being.bad enough for screws and bolts.

It depends on you to make that decision. I'm a huge wimp but I went all natural with this one. I got drugs with my first because I was induced the pain was 10x worse.

I  a ftm and I determined to do things naturally... I have a high tolerance for pain and not one to complain much so as of now I plan no epidural...and also my mom had an epidural with my last to siblings 11 years later she still has back problems she thinks it is from the epidurals who knows but everybody is different

You go your whole pregnancy not taking medications that could harm your baby  but right before you have the baby your giving your baby all kinds of drugs. Im not against epidurals ive had one but i had a really bad experience with my epidural. This baby im going natural.

I did all natrual because I went to the hospital to late, when I got there I was 10cm dilated and I had no choice but to do it natural and it hurt like crazy, I was begging for the epidural. Next time I'm going to make sure I go to the hospital soon enough to get it.

I wanted to go  natural so I could feel when to push, but contractions were bad so I  got one around 4cm, but it wore off when I was about 8 cm...Idk why but I liked it that way, I got  the best of both worlds and  the worst, I have bad back pain and I tore.

It is a little painful when you get it because they give you a couple numbing shots in your back first before putting the epidural in. But in my opinion, the shots were no where near compared to the contractions.

I like to think I have a high pain tolerance and was doing just fine and even wanted all natural. However, after the doctor broke my water I was in so much pain I was in tears. At 8 cm I got the epidural and so happy I did. The rest was so much easier and allowed me to enjoy the rest of labor. With this baby completely planning on epidural from the beginning.

This is up to you hon.  And honestly, a lot will depend on how you react when in labor.  You can try to go natural and if it is too much, then have an epidural.  I did have epidurals as I found I'm a lot wimpier than I thought I'd be.  LOL  but other women don't have as much of a pain response or maybe are just tougher and handle it naturally.  So, I think you can have a general idea of what you want to do and alter it when actually in the moment.  good luck
