Labor positions?

I'm 32 weeks and debating what position to be in during my labor. I'm trying to avoid lying on my back because I heard it is actually more difficult.
So I was wondering what you ladies were planning to do?? And if you've already had a baby, what position did you choose?

You can deliver in any reclining position with an epidural: semi sitting, lithiotomy (flat on back with feet in stirrups), or side lying. Side lying is actually your best bet with an epidural. You have less chance of tearing and it widens your pelvic outlet, whereas the other two positions I mentioned actually narrow it.

I don't have a set position I'll be moving a lot seeing what's comfortable for me since I won't be having any meds. I'll also be bringing my birthing ball. But I have labor positions info in my journals. I'm really interested in squatting and my hospital has squatting bars so I'm all set :)

I plan to move a lot! I'll have my birth ball there to sit and bounce on, a squatting bar set up so I can squat with ease, and my hubby to "slow dance" with. I also plan to spend a lot of time in the bath. I'd deliver there if my hospital would let me! Water can help soften your tissues, making you less likely to tear (or at least tear badly).
I'll probably deliver on my hands and knees or while squatting. My midwife supports any position I'm comfortable using, even if it makes her job a bit harder.

I laid on my back and had an easy Labour.
i progressed quick.
Plus if you get the epi,  your back is the only position you can deliver.
It just depends on your body.

I liked sitting up criss cross. If I wrapped my arms around the outside of my crossed legs, it opened up my chest for breathing. Also, the "childs play" position bc it took baby off my spine after a few hrs it felt great. Honestly I sat up probably the majority of my labor (11 hrs). My dr kept telling me I had to lay on my left side the whole time and I wanted to throat punch him. Im so glad he wasnt able to make it to deliver my daughter. If I could have walked (they hooked me up to pitocin even without my consent) then im sure it would have been a lot nicer being able to hunch over and see different things to take my mind off the growing pain. Good luck momma :)
