Chronic cough

I have coughed for 16 years.  Sometimes it is unexpected and sometimes I feel it coming on.  Chest xrays reveal nothing.  Allergy shots do nothing; gastro pills do nothing; inhalers do nothing.  Help!
I started coughing immediately after having an alergic reaction to sulpha; I was deathly sick and wondered if I would live.  Any connection?

My son who is almost 7 and has coughed since just before he was 3. Doctors have put him on lots of allergy meds, acid reflux meds, went through allergey testing, and been on asthma meds,  and now they want to start all over with allergey meds again. Oh and they took his tonsils out for this very reason when he was 4. He coughs worse at night and throws up from it atleast 3 or more times a week. Nothing helps it.  I took him to a really unique doctor (he is known around the world and people come from states all over to see him.) some call it a witch doctor. He told me that he is suffering from a viral infection that some people will keep for decades. Its where the tissue in the lungs can't heal themselves. after catching it. Big long complicated story. anyways  were just starting some new natural meds mayby they will help he said it could take up to 3 months for his lungs to completley heal. Gonna give you guys the list of what he's on, and dosages.....Immuplex 3 daily    Allerplex 3 daily  Antonex 3 daily and Catalyn 1 daily, suppose to take them just before you eat and the sigle one in the morning. And hes 6 so adults would probably double the dose. You can get these at any health food stores or online.  There worth a try.!! Good luck
