I've had this constant throat clearing for a few years now, since I was 14-15. It feels like a tickle in the middle of my throat, and when I try to clear it out, it comes right back. I clear it out like every 5-10 seconds. It happens occasionally after I eat, not very much, and more likely to happen after I eat when I consume dairy products. Never usually happens whenever I'm standing or sitting. But it always happens whenever I lay down or sleep and keeps me up for a good few hours. It comes and goes throughout the years, but whenever it comes, it stays for a long time. I dont think its the weather, because Its happened to me pretty much every season. I eat healthy and workout, and I have a hepa air filter in my room. Don't smoke either. I've been using nasacort for close to a month, with no improvements. Also when I "try" to wear my metal retainer while I'm sleeping, the tickling feeling gets even worse so I can hardly wear my retainer at night. Could this be acid reflux or something? The ENT said something about stomach acids coming up... and that'd kind of make sense since it usually happens when I lay down... but I don't have any other acid reflux symptoms like heartburn, just the constant tickling throat feeling.
Also, my mom cooked this asian meat on this little griller inside the house today, and while she was cleaning it, I'm not sure what she did but it created a BUNCH of smoke in the kitchen. The smell/smoke went through the whole house. and when this happened, I had that mucusy ticklish feeling and had to clear my throat. but she vented the smoke out and I opened my window and now its not as bad....what a strange situation...
Anyways, I'm supposed to take a barium swallow in a couple of days so if anything from that test shows any results, I'll post it back on here. But in the meantime, does anybody have an idea to whats wrong with my throat?
