Respiratory Disorder

I have recently been diagnosed with bronchiectasis & am currently waiting to see a specialist, it was in my lower left lung the infection started, after a double course of antibiotics & steroids it seems to have cleared up but just before the end of my antibiotics my right breast got sore & it travelled across my breast & now its to the side of my breast & towards my arm pit, its not sore to the touch & there are no lumps there but its sore from inside out, I often wake during night with the soreness & have to hold myself to turn in the bed & after a few minutes it eases off enough for me to sleep again, I also have it when I wake up first think in the morning & sometimes have to take paracetemol to ease the discomfort, I am currently on Zithromax which was prescribed for a month initally & I am over half way in the course I have mentioned this to my doctor but he doesn't seem to take it seriously & offhandledly said it may be a pulled muscle but he didn't examine me, the longer it goes on the more worried I am,it also hurts when I cough , I am not due to see a specialist until Jan 2011 & was wondering if anyone could help me in this,

I had CT done which confirmed bronchiectasis in my lower left lung. Went back to my doctor today & insisted he examine me as the pain was so severe I was afraid of something sinister but on examination he said it was one of two things, one being inflamation of the spaces between the ribs due to excessive & violent coughing which gets worse when lying down as it stretches the tissue in the spaces the other being a cracked rib but he thinks the inflammation is the more likely cause which I would need anti inflammatories for but I can't take as I have asthma & these only bring on wheezing so I have to rely on painkillers & some gel but at least it put my mind at rest.
How often do you have flare ups? I'm only over my first one but it was so severe I was out of work for a month & am dreading a reaccurance.

This pranayam will get lots of oxygen into your lungs, and get rid of toxins. Start doing it, and let me know in a few days, what you notice. This will relax you as well. Do the anulom vilom in bed, when you cannot sleep.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 21  times.

Hi, I too have mild bronchiectasis - first signs for me was pain in my ribs left side which continued for months.  It comes and goes usually worse with exacerbations, so possibly due to inflammation? I presume you have had a CT and/or chest x-ray so dont worry too much - hope all goes well
