muscle pains worried of HIV risk

Hello,
I know the only way to know for sure is testing but I have not yet found the courage to do it. I suffer from aching pains in my thighs and groin area and sometimes in my arms. The reason I post in this area is that my girlfriend also has the same thing. This has being going on for at least 6 months for me and over a year for her. I know ARS symptoms usually last a couple weeks at most, but can HIV cause this intermittant (usually lasts a day or two then stops for a day then continues) pain for many months and even years or could this be anothber std?

You need to have a full STD screen if you think you had a risk--enough said.
