Could it be a bacteria infection or a cold sore?

I'm pretty sure a cold sore occurs more often on the lip, chin and nose. My sores did blister and have brown scabs. It only affected the left corner of my mouth and not a single blister sore on my whole lip, chin and nose. It hard to say I caught herpes because I never had any type of sex or kissed a person in the mouth or did I share drinks. Let me list a bunch of things that might have caused this sore. I remember eating out a night before and we had a lot of unhealthy food and drinks like pizza, and Mc Donald’s in one day. I toss and turn my face on the pillow at night because I get uncomfortable easily. Not to mention that my pillow is extremely dirty from all the drool and sweat from the past few months.  I drool at night and I remember waking up in the morning with a wet and itchy corner of my mouth. I wipe off my saliva then licked and scratched it pretty hard a few times till it became itchy and painful. Anyways there’s my story. So what could it be? Is it just a dirty infection I got from drooling and sleeping on a disgusting pillow?

hey thanks for answering my question your very helpful, i'll leave it as angular chelitis since i woke up with a wet corner on my mouth and i scratched it which leads to fungal or bacteria infections.

It's hard to say, but oral HSV-1 is not considered to be an STD.  About half of the US population has it and usually the infection is acquired during early childhood.  However, you are right in that herpes sores usually do not affect the corners of the mouth.  Angular chelitis also sounds like a possibility.  You could always have the blisters cultured next time you experience an "outbreak" but either way, it's really not a big deal.  HSV-1 will not cause any serious health consequences and the only precaution you should take is to avoid oral sex while you have a visible cold sore.  I don't know if you have HSV-1 or not, but it's really nothing to lose sleep over.
Good luck,
