Hi there -
The pap smear will only look for abnormal cells, not HPV. There is an HPV test that will detect any active HPV infection a woman has at that time. There is a chance that you could have HPV and it not be active at the time of the test, and become active later.

Hpv can take years to detect. IF it is detected at all there are only a few strains that cause warts and even fewer that cause problems in men. Hpv is very common. Any abnormal cells can be taken care of with a visit you your OBGYN and a date with a very cold very small metal tube (cramping during the freezing is normal and you will be told not to have sex for 30days to allow healing , also a little discharge is normal) Hpv has been known to clear it self up if you are younge and healthy although it takes some time. To be honest you could catch alot worse than Hpv
