Hello,
So I decided to go have a full STD screening done, because I haven't done this for years. I went to my health clinic at my University in Canada, and the Doctor used a metal speculum on me.
Now, that is nothing new for me, and all my previous exams have been with a metal speculum. However, this time I feel really anxious that it was metal and not a platic one, that seems to be what some Doctors are using these days.
And any women out there, please re assure me that it is completely normal for all the "tools" for the exam to be out on the table before the exam takes place?
Usually this has been the case for me, but I just wanted to hear it from others? Also if other gyno or family doctors are still using the metal speculums for exams?
Please any response would help, I am just feeling slightly anxious about the metal speculum tool (even more worried than my actual test results)
Basically, I am worried about catching an std from an un clean tool?! (sorry if it sounds nuts) but my mind wonders.
