no std causes these symptoms.

I saw an ENT specialist and he did the thrush test which came back negative. Said I have geographic tongue. But the middle of my tongue looks really furry. I'm scared it could be HIV.
Would over brushing cause this?
The jerk looked disgusted when I told him I was afraid it was HIV. He room a swab after he looked at my tongue and said yeah it doesn't look right and the thrush test came back negative. So my question is, if it was thrush, but newly formed, like a few weeks ago, would that test show? I've never had tongue like this where the taste buds look like they're stringy/furry and in waves. Possible that I did this by over brushing and damaging them? If not HIV than what is it? I've had dry mouth from anxiety for several months.
not everything is std related - really.
