Red swelling on the mouth - is this an STD?

Hello,

I had protected sex with a girl about three weeks ago and we also did a lot of kissing.  She also gave me unprotected oral.  I gave her oral but she was wearing her underpants.

Yesterday I noticed a burning sensation on the bottom lip more in the middle to inside the bottom lip than outside the lip.  On two sides rougly equal from the middle of the lip there were also two red raised blisters of quite a size on both sides of the lip by yesterday evening.  The red blisters seems to go down a bit over night.

Now today there is like a swelling in the back on the bottom lip particularly on one side and there is a like a significant sized white / grey area in the middle of bottom lip going towards the teeth.  Also I have noticed small white spots on the inside of the bottom lip adjacent to the bottom teeth.

There also appears to be a cold sore starting on the outside of the bottom left on the left but I am not sure about this.

I have applied Zovirax cream (acyclovir) today assuming that this was the start of primarly cold sore infection and it appears to help.

If someone can please let me know whether this is herpes or something else I would be most grateful. I am very worried out what it might be and the consequences.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Tim

You aren't going to get a std thru panties.

Hi Grace,

Thanks very much for your reply.  Appreciate it.  Apologies if this reply appears twice.

Actually I have not seen a doctor.  I am travelling away for work at the moment and its difficult to a see a doctor.  I bought the zovirax from the pharmacy at the airport assuming that its the onset of a primary herpes attack.  The swelling and redenning of the lower lip happend the night before I travelled, so the timing was bad.

Based on my original description if you could please let me know whether you think this is herpes or some other STD I would be most grateful.  I will see a doctor as soon as I return home from my travels.

Thanks.

Regards,

Tim

So you saw your provider that you were given zovirax ointment to apply?

This is more likely to either be oral herpes from kissing or just plain ole irritation from performing oral over underwear.  A visit to your doctor if you haven't already is in order.  I wouldn't even consider it being anything else stdwise.
