question about hives/rash

I have had a recent bout with hives.  This is my first reaction to hives lasting more than a few days.  I was worried about it because I had a one night stand in Europe about 6 wks ago.  The condom broke and afterward I developed a UTI.  (The symptoms were very mild for the UTI so I didn't go to the dr. till about a week after my trip.  That means I could have had the UTI for at least a few days before it got treated.)  I also a yeast infection and took generic diflucan for this. I took Macrobid for the UTI and after I finished the prescription (four days after I finished it, about 3 weeks after my trip) I developed a rash/hives on my back, chest, face  (there were a few big hives on/around my eyes making it hard to see), hands, and crotch.  I thought it might just be an allergic reaction to Macrobid and did what I normally do when I have an allergic reaction, take a prednisone prescription (pill form).  The rash healed on my crotch, but I still get mild hives on my chest, neck, face, hands/arms, hips, and legs.  (I probably get no more than 30 hives/day, mostly on my chest, hands and arms.)  I also am taking Zyrtec and have been taking this for a week.   I was taking benadryl originally for the itching.  Because I have had the hives for almost 3 weeks, I am more concerned at what the cause could be.  It also seems that my skin is extremely sensitive to touch and water.  I now get hives after I shower and if I hit my hand or put it under a blanket, I get a hive there.  Would it be possible that the hives/rash are either hepatitus related or hiv related considering I got them shortly after my sexual encounter?  I don't think I have any other symptoms, but it is very hard to tell since I am always tired, get headaches, and have swollen glands from allergies.  I have never had any known food allergies and have not ate anything different.  Or is it possible, that it is just because it is extremely hot outside?  Should I be worried?  I know hives are very common, but wanted to make sure it has nothing to do with an std.  (I have gotten tested for everything except hepatitus (including hiv) and everything came up negative.)  (I know I will have to keep getting tested for hiv for 6 months after my encounter to make sure I'm ok.)  Would hepatitus give me a rash/hives if I was infected?  How long before any symptoms would show up if I was infected with hepatitus/hiv?  Am in the window period for this with my sexual encounter?

this post is over a year old. please pay attention to the dates on posts when responding - thanks!  we recommend limiting responses to posts 2 weeks old or less since typically after that time, the poster doesn't come back again anyways to see replies and after 2 weeks, advice is no longer timely either. thanks!

it's most likely a result of the macrobid, which can cause, or enhance a yeast infection.  Your symptoms are classic of candida. Do some looking into gi tract candida albicans...I think you'll be relieved and hopeful

Please post in HIV prevention community for your HIV questions.
Post in the Hepatitis B community for you Hep B concern of symptoms.

Best advice I can tell you from an STD point of view for both STDs is to test for them.  The rash is too early as a symptom of ARS. HIV test is conclusive at 3 months.
